Yes as the subject thing says "I've had an Idea with the talent we have on this forum I was wondering if people thought it might be worth writing a forum GoalKeeping guide?

With input from everyone including:

Training guides.
Coaching guides and session planning.
Exercises to do at home.
Exercises people use at training.

Cos I know we have international GK's on this forum and most of us seem to coach including Animal coaching most of Brissy as far as I can tell Anyone Else Up For It?Confused

In two weeks I have time off work so I have some spare time. Although OBO have already produced a similar guide so something different would be needed, suggestions?

Great idea Andy.  This is something that I have also been considering.  The problem with the OBO one is that it is quite a bloated document (hard to find things in) and doesn't offer a lot of different approaches (restricted to a couple of authors).

What we can add is to provide a resource that has a variety of approaches for people at different levels, different regions, and different experiences.

My suggestion is that we go ahead with this on the forum, with a view to making the final product available through wikipedia.

Perhaps if we can set up a couple of sticky threads under different subheadings (basic techniques, PC defence, one-on-ones, aerial saves, useful drills, gameplay and tactics from a GK perspective etc).

Obviously anything that is taken from printed resources already available needs to be acknowledged - the idea I guess is to develop a GK encylopaedia rather than to plagiarise other authors.  Diagrams for drills and techniques as well as descriptions would be very useful.

I'm happy to be involved in both content and editorial sides of things if anyone else is keen.

that a damn good idea too. Happy

Good idea andy. A keeper handbook constructed from many keepers is a great idea.

Would there be any objection if I published it on my business website as a pdf file? Naturally I will contribute and give all credit to the "Author Panel"

no this is cool available to all PDF would be fine I could possibly make an Interactive CD too with my Uni experience (cough cough bollox)  :D :D
So basically if you add to this you can use it as you wish within reason we'll do the legal jargan later.

Right so First thing we need to do is to write an introduction i suppose I can do that!

Then we need sections.
My two cents......

Introduction
Overview of kit (Safety stuff)
All out of kit practices (dynamic streches, tennis ball exercises, ladders etc...)
In Kit exercises (Basic to advanced)
Warm down (again streches and exercises)
Nutrition for the hardcore of us GK's
Ending
Acknowlegements
Authors!

feel free to think of other sections!

Trigonometry.

No really, angles and stuff.  It's amazing how many young keepers I coach just don't realise just how much more goal you cover by taking a step forwards....

you could do sections such as
pf's, ps, one one one situations and stuff like that and could do really basic stuff as how to kick the ball properly, the "ready" position and how to slide and stuff like that

well im not sure if i got any usefull information about it tho
but i guess we all have to agree if we are going to describe each section like a beginners guide or if we are going to give technical infromation (this will be hard due different playing styles) or if we are going to do drills that simulate different situations
if we all decide what way we want this guide to be its much easier to know how to write it
