THE HUNTERS TOWER AND TA' SOLDI SET THE PACE

The Hunters Tower YS and Ta' Soldi Rabat maintained their impressive start in the National League with their second win from two games.

The Hunters Tower YS followed up their 3-0 victory over Pasta Poiatti Qormi with a hard fought but over all well deserved victory over BDO Hs; while Ta' Soldi Rabat swept aside Britannia Tours WH with an emphatic 5-0 score line.

A first half goal from Chris Attard was enough for The Hunters Tower to take all three points from their match against BDO Hs.

It was a game that produced few scoring chances but the ones that came along were mostly for The Hunters Tower. This match confirmed that BDO have a problem with creating scoring chances and the few that come along are not being put away.

Their miserly total of two short corners through out the whole game, tells a story in itself. On the other hand, The Hunters Tower did manage to force numerous short corners which they failed to capitalize on except on the one occasion in the 13th minute of the first half when Chris Attard hit in of the post.

The Hunters Tower went close in the second half but David Evans fine reverse hit was stopped by the upright and eventually cleared.

In the second game Ta' Soldi Rabat got the better of Britannia Tours WH but had to wait until the second half to convert their superiority into goals. Britannia Tours shared the earlier exchanges.

In fact Rabat stand in keeper, Robert Bezzina, had to show on a couple of occasions that his long absence from the game had not dampened his reflexes.

The second part of the half saw Ta' Soldi up the pace and after Cremona had saved on the line a Radojevic hit it was the same Radojevic who fired the Champions in front when he finished off a short corner move.

This goal sent Ta' Soldi into the break with a one goal lead. They proceeded to kill the game at the start of the second half when in the space of two minutes they scored twice through Jeffrey Aquilina.

The first goals saw him pounce first on to a rebound off goalkeeper Galea while the second goal was an excellent solo move. Britannia Tours were knocked of their feet and could hardly mount a reaction.

James Azzopardi made it four after 23 minutes and in the final minute after Britannia goalkeeper Galea had kept the score down to four, Jeffrey Aquilina rounded off his hat-trick when he deflected into the top of the net a hit by Chris Bugeja.

The National League continues on Sunday with an intriguing clash between Ta' Soldi Rabat and Pasta Poiatti Qormi at 9.00am, while after at 11:00 BDO Hs take on Britannia Tours WH.
