These next bands are a totally different genre to most of the other posts but hopefully you'll like them.

The first is a band called Armor For Sleep who are from america and are relatively unknown outside of there.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQw-RkfsZ_0

the video is pretty poor but the song is really good. As far as genre it is classed as "emo" but that genre is so watered down now that it doesn't really mean much.

Another band, and one of my current favourites, is The Audition.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FV7thmQN_rk

Saw them earlier this year and they are amazing.

A few other suggestions around the same sort of genre are;
Mayday Parade

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kn9E8XIs7jw&feature=user (Jamie All Over)

Bayside
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJh9aqtytcQ (Duality)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRMIBfrNB8s (Duality - Strings Version)

1997
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9S32J_wLrKs&feature=related (Water's Edge)

All Time Low
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcNiKCmWdYE (Dear Maria Count Me In)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDg5xhyS3js&feature=user (Six Feet Under The Stars)

Four Year Strong
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJAPitB9Bc8 (Heroes Get Remembered, Legends Never Die)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Apvy0QyHHk0&feature=related (Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Hell)

"Dance Party In The Balkans" by Alaska In Winter.

"Lambent Material" by Eluvium.

"Radio Swan Is Down" by Laura.

Also, track down Kevin Hewick. He was on Factory Records at the same time as Joy Division. Think he may have been considered as a possible replacement for Ian Curtis before JD became NO. He recorded "Haystack" with NO. There's an album of his stuff: "Tender Bruises And Scars".

Right time for a new Genre: Ska, Ska-core

Obviously Ska is fairly big from it's old school reggae roots but this is modern ska.

Reel Big Fish - Quite a big band you probably (should) have heard of  Tongue - http://www.reel-big-fish.com/
Their new album is more rock based but still got the trumpets making it cool Lol

Streetlight Manifesto - Ska-core band who've supported RBF. I used to adore this band but my music tastes have changed a bit but still a good band. http://www.streetlightmanifesto.com/
http://uk.youtube.com/results?search_query=streetlight+manifesto&search_type=&aq=0&oq=streetlight - I recommend We will fall together and point/counterpoint.

They are a fast guitar band with a big horn section and fast rolling lyrics < notice i'm not a massively good music reviewer Lol

Apologies if you've heard of these bands before but where I'm from they are fairly unknown (streetlight are much less well known) except me and a few friends.

Empire of the Sun - Walking on a Dream
Aussie electro-pop group comprising of The Sleepy Jackson's Luke Steele and Pnau's Nick Littlemore. New album is very good!

Air France
They've got a bit of The Avalanches about them. Nic probably knows a bit more about them.

TZU - http://www.myspace.com/wearetzu
Highly rate "Got To Do"

Ahh i love hoobastank, did they really start out ska-core??
As for skindred, i had heard of them a while back but never bothered to listen to them until recently when they quickly became one of my favourite bands!
On a sidenote, completely different genre, have any of you heard bullet for my valentines new albium or single?? Its very good, so if you havent it could be worth your while!

I remember Glory Hope Mountain had a few good reviews a while back.
Just had another listen on iTunes and it's the sort of mellow alternative folk stuff that might suit a lazy weekend.

Nope, just this. I'm sure they'll end up winning a ton of Junos next year - we like our unknown indie folk music. Wink

Funnily enough I heard them on Guy Garvey's (excellent) Sunday evening show after a very lazy weekend, which may be why they struck a chord.  I'll give the album a try.  I guess they're worth 8 pounds of my hard-earned moolah.
