According to a Belgian hockey fanatic, some changes will be made in the world ranking after the Olympics, more specifically at the top. Australia are definitely losing their 1st spot, atm this means Germany will become 1st again, but if they lose the final to Spain, Spain will become 1st, before Australia and Germany...

Belgium should be up to 10th place btw Happy

In french it's easyer for me!  Yes

                  Actual        Actual        OG             New             New
                   Rank         Total        Points          Total             Rank

Australia          1            1560      750-700      2310-2260        2
Germany         2            1443     1000-800     2443-2243        1 if Germany wins or 3
Netherlands     3            1364      750-700      2114-2064        4
Spain              4            1330     1000-800     2330-2130        1 if Spain wins or 3

It works if the Olympic Games points are the same as World Cup points (1000, 800, 750 & 700).

By 8th I mean England were ranked as 8th, I don't think GB gets a ranking bearing in mind tht every other tournament we play as 4 seperate nations.

GB's Olympic ranking points get split somehow between England, Wales and Scotland (it's England's ranking that determines GB's seeding etc in the run up to the games).

david i think they split it based on how many players you have in the squad i.e. if england have 14 men of the 16 man squad they get 14/16ths of the points.

Funny to see that whoever loses the gold medal game is in 3rd and the winner is in 1st.
