Personally I like the Robo better. But the TK is far better value for money. Or try the new Monarch shorts.

I'm in the process of looking for new astros... any suggestions guys?

I wear TK kickers at the moment so anything that will allow for two foot straps with the minimum of cutting would be a bonus. The other thing is I need a wide fitting shoe as I am a UK 7 in foot length but need an 8 in most styles to get the width, and my current astros (Umbro Baffled)are still too tight in an 8 but the 9 is too long hence the need for a change!

I cut my astros to protect the straps too.

I've always previously worn hockey astros, but figured I don't need that extra protection/weight (what with wearing kickers!) so for this season I bought some Adidas +F10 football (soccer) astros. Compared to hockey ones they're very very light and still comfortable.

I have the Asics Blackheath II (or whatever they are) and they are very good shoes, but a bit narrow fitting, so you might have the same problem with them I would reckon?

I know its long past, but try the Gryphon shoes if you can they seem to be a bit broader than average.

Bit of a different question....

My lad has just volunteered to play in goal, (I was hoping he was going to have more sense than his Dad, but hey family insanity is good!)

Having not played when I was his age, (and considering even if I had that would've been 25 years ago!) What kit do you guys recommend?

He is only 7 by the way.........

since i have been training junior gks here in belgium for a while i can see that the kickers and legguards the kids move most unhindered in are these

but they are a bit pricey

as for hps it does not matter as much and i would recomend mercian prolight mini

if you wan to find a full set that is good value of kit you should have a look at mercian prolight mini set or mercian prolight junior which both can be found here http://www.hockeyfactoryshop.co.uk/acatalog/Goalkeeping_Kits.html

the prolight junior might be a better option for you because he is seven and the kit it ranged to people from 8 he will get more years out of the kit the only thing you need to buy extra is a helmet groinguard and maybe a pair of shorts most kids here dont use shorts when they are that young

The Ogo XXS's are a good set for the youngest kids, but as soon as they start to slide they're no good. They twist too much and don't offer the comfort and support required for a good slide. We use the Monarch mini legguards and kickers and they do the job just as well.
For the next level we use the regular Ogo's, which are well up to the task.
I am very interested in any experiences with the mercian mini's. They're a lot cheaper still than the monarchs.

For gloves I would stear away from the TK3.0's. The youngest goalies tend to pick into the inside foam because it's too soft, resulting in exessive wear. The Ogo's are a good choise. Don't know about the mercian's.
