i can hit well..am a big hitter, have good control of the ball(can hit along the line) when in top condition...
but this is the things that keeps on happening to me...no matter what stick i use is that i HIT THE TOP OF THE ball...
in 10 tries i will get 5 or 6 excellent shot(hit the sweet spot) and the rest i will hit the top of the ball..
i dun look up quickly(my eyes is on the ball till i finish the swing)....

To avoid topping the ball on my backswing I run the head of the stick along the ground for a few centimetres - Although I also play golf and so have terrible hockey technique, so this might not work for you if you have better technique -  but then again worth a try...

if that was any help

i'd say go back to basics, i know it seems childish, but start with your hands close together towards the head end of the grip and try clip hitting it a few times, just to get your foot position and swing right, then gradually progress further along the grip. That's what i do when i have an off hitting day.

If your topping it your standing up too much. Focus on keeping low as you hit it and that should solve the problem.

Cilp hitting is when you have both your hands close the the bottom of the grip (head end) and you then hit the ball. There is less backswing and it can be more accurate. You still get a good bit of pace if its done well.

Yea its easier to just say clip hit. I imagine that if you were clip hitting with the jumbow you may raise it by accident. That could be another reason for you topping the ball. For some reason people who play with the jumbow at the start tend to top it more than they used to. Though when proper connection is made it goes flying. Just go to your local pitch and just practice hitting for like an hour.

i try to hit some ball yesterday..and discover that when i am hitting I:
i) i try to pull my stick up a little bit to avoid raising the ball (about 6/10 times the, others was okay)
ii) i try to hit the ball(bend more than normal) and try not to pull the stick(8/10 succesfull, the others was raised)
iii)clip hitting make my hitting a little bit better..by doing this i can bend down more(7/10 were excellent)
iv) i hit raised ball(5/10)

actually i hit more..but decide to write down only this...
i still top the ball, and now i raised ball more...
how do you hit by using jumbow?? the angle of the stick head, the way the stick make contact with the ball etc..

I don't have a jumbow myself, but 2 players in my team have, and they said it took some getting used to before they could hit decently.

According to them, it's way easier to hit it flat if you position the ball a bit more towards your back foot.

i would agree with that... i have used jumbows and now one of the low bow mercian hammerheads. To get over the all and lift it i tend to take a bigger step forward when hitting the ball. It gets me lower to the ground which prevents topping the ball and means that the ball is closer, proportionally to my back foot thus when i hit the ball my hands are over the ball and the ball stays down much better.

If you hit it when is in the middle of your legs or parrallel to your back foot you shouldn't have a problem with the angle of the stick head. Forgot you had to do that to get a good hit off the jumbow. And then if you want to raise it you hit it when its parrallel to your front foot. Easy enough in theory. In practice slightly harder
