What saves are your favourite and get you going when you pull em off...
ie Full flight dive with LHP, Drag flick on shorts, 1:1 clean up slide CF, lunging split save, scarppy LHP svae in croded cicle, stick intercept outside the circle.....Confused

Personally my faves are:
1. That arsey pure reflex stick deflection + save on a raised shot thats really humming. Tho now I seem to manage these more often during training than in games

2. Full stretch diving stick clearance when you correctly anticipate, intercept and deflect a pass going from 1 attacker to another in the circle - a risky move if you miss I know - but great for killing a 2:1 when you're left high and dry

My fave saves (I'm not a keeper) goes back a long time, Colin Alkins (think that was his name) in goal for Chelmsford fed up with Paddy Osborne flicking the ball into the top of the net (long before dragflicking was the norm) decided to charge at penalty corners and deliberately save shots with his head.  The umpires didn't know what to make of it, enjoyed by the crowd no end.  Must have been back in 91/92

Some of my favorite saves are from one on ones where the striker thinks they have you beaten and then you close the door. Always nice to see the reaction. I also like quick reaction saves, I just buzz after those. I also enjoy kicking the ball out of mid air though those do tend to happen more in training than in a game.

Stuff it I just like saving the ball  Lol

My favourite saves are the ones that make stopping the ball look really easy, just to p*ss off the opponents Wink

Seriously, I really do like a well-executed LHP save, stepping into the ball so you don't have to dive, deflecting the ball cleanly into open space. Other than that, saving more than 1 shot in a row (ie: kill the rebound) always gets me going Happy

Actually, the save at nr 1 in this video is a really good example (Guus Vogels to the rescue) Happy

I prefer these kind of saves because they rely on skill and positioning rather than on bravery and luck (not that those last-resort-saves don't get me going too Happy)

my favourites are teh diving stick saves when you've gone from one side of the goal to t'other in one dive, usually more in desperation than expectation, and you hear that satisfying clunk and see hte ball ping off your stick and round the post!

^This. Anything that involves using my stick really.

Or any kind of save that comes from a male attacker, be it in training or mixed games. Not only are the shots much tougher than I'm used to, but you get the added satisfaction of knowing they're absolutely gutted to have not scored past a girl.

as has been said before anything on my stick side and 1 v 1s Yes
one of the most fun saves happened to involve another keeper - it was on tour over the weekend and the umpire had given a P flick but the oppo keeper had to take it. i saved it but then we just played on instead of taking a fhd so i ended up having to take out the oppo keeper to stop her from scoring. great to do!  Happy Tongue

Saving flicks is always a good time.  I also enjoy the just barley got there variety.   I managed a split save on a cross this weekend, that *just* went wide after I got it with the tip of my toe.  The look on the girl who took the hit's face was priceless in her heartbreak.   Rofl

my favourite, from a playing point of view was watching our keeper at the indoor qualifiers deflect a drag flicked short off his face mask, over the bar and into a balcony above. looked fantastic, he thought it was a bit of a laugh as well suprisingly

the ones where god knows how you got there, but the attacker's already started wheeling away in celebration and then realises you saved it!  Yes
