Charlesworth shoud be named as Kookaburras coach today from what I have heard, also  Frank Murray to remain as Hockeyroos coach. Had heard the Chris Spice was going to be announced but that has changed and Murray will retain role.

HA to most likely make these annoucements today

Althought Charlesworth used to be a very good player in his time do you not think he is a bit overrated??
Don't get me wrong I think in his time he was on of the top players in hockey but as a coach not really sure.

You're kidding right? You been living under a rock for 15 years?

Charlesworth singlehandedly changed the complexion and competitiveness of womens hockey at the elite level to such an extent it took other nations ten years to catch up.

The only criticism I would have of Rick is that he is an uncompropmising leader which can be both a strength and a weakness. Eg, culture clash in India, etc.

He is also, though, an enigmatic leader and with a younf Australian squad will produce a first rate team for the next olympics. His problem with coaching mens teams will be clashes of Alpha male leadership. Keep on top of that and everything will be fine.

I believe he will bring excellent results quickly due to the young but highly talented squad and his vision to give the likes of Jamie Dwyer license to roam as he did with Alyson Anan getting her to two worlds bes  player titles, while maintaining the rest of the playing structure.

Having said that about a proposed structure of play for the team, I believe there is strong arguement to develop a core group of hard nosed midfielders pushing Jamie back up the ground to more scoring positions where he was missed at theOlympics even with the Talents of Ockenden and others. Jamie himself is a 10+ goals per tournament player of which there may be only one or two others in the worrld at any given time, to move him back of the goal scoring opportunities is a waste.

Will be interesting to see how THAT particular sceanario plays out more than any other for me.
