Pakistan beaten by India in the semi final of Asia Cup in India by 3-1 and failed to qulify for the world cup in Malaysia and Singapore next year.

That's another nail into Pakistan hockey's coffin.

PHF urges FIH to raise Asia’s quota for Junior World Cup

KARACHI, July 17: Pakistan on Thursday urged the International Hockey Federation (FIH) to review their policy about the number of teams’ qualification for next year’s 9th Men’s Junior World Cup Hockey, to be staged jointly in Malaysia and Singapore.

The plea came from Secretary Pakistan Hockey Federation, Asif Bajwa.

Earlier, the FIH had announced that the top six teams from the Men’s Junior Asia Cup Hockey at Hyderabad, India would qualify for the World Cup. However, since four teams pulled out among the twelve participants, the FIH announced that in view of reduced number of teams they would decide the number of qualifiers from the ongoing Junior Asia Cup.

The two finalists Korea and India are certain to qualify along with two host nations Malaysia and Singapore but the fate of the other two — Pakistan and Japan — hangs in balance till the final decision will be taken at the FIH meeting during the Olympic Games in Beijing next month.

“No doubt it’s a big blow for Pakistan hockey,” said Asif, “but as far as Asian hockey is concerned Pakistan, if it fails to make to the World Cup, will serve a big blow to this region where hockey is already struggling. Already India’s ouster from the Olympic hockey has pushed the hockey downward in this region and if Pakistan doesn’t make it to this Junior World Cup, hockey will suffer immeasurably at international level.”

“Therefore, I would like to ask the FIH to take stock of the situation and increase the number of qualifiers from this Junior Asia Cup,” he concluded.

"immeasurably at international level.”

What is he saying ?
That its like the world cup needs Pakistan to run  Confused I'd like to see some other teams qualify for the junior world cup that wouldn't usually be seen there! Like Fiji and Sweden etc.

I'm sure the FIH will give one more place so just got to beat Japan in the 3rd / 4th place match!

Hockey is quickly dying up in Pakistan. It would be hard to find Pakistan in international competitions after 2015.

It can not be revived by FIH allowing a mercy quota for Pakistan. Thats a ridiculous thing to demand.

I've already gone in quite length in another thread about politics, corruption and mismanagement from the top order. These factors combined are forming the bottleneck for Pakistan's failure. The juniors not qualifying isn't the whole problem. The main problem is that it happened due the aforementioned reasons. Unless these problems aren't addressed we'll have a broken system in which the real potential isn't utilized. Pakistan needs transparent and skilled people on the top that can manage the crisis. The whole thing has become a mockery...

Finally FIH did a mercy with Pakistan and they are now going to Singapore/Malaysia next year.
