Now I'm guessing that a genuine zeller wouldn't look like mine does after one training session?
Does anyone else have a  'zeller' stick that has blue paint under the black paint on the head?

Sorry about the link but I couldn't attach the image!

2 of the guys at my club have got these sticks, both of whom got them from pakistan. From what i remember they both have the pattern on the head. Also there definately was no blue paint under the black.

i also took off the grip, to see if there's a model number or whatever, and what i saw was an "ADIDAS" tag or something moulded on the stick. So now, is the stick a defect, or a fake?

i would probably say in this case that it is one out of the factory that has been taken off the production line. So it would be real but not necessarily legit.

I've just received one off ebay.  Cost me about 50 quid including P+P so if it is a fake (which it probably is) then I'm not too bothered as I've got it for the third of the price of an authentic stick.  I play in midfield so don't often strike the ball so the lack of stiffness shouldn't be such a problem.  This stick is also very light with the thinning hook which is ideal for quick stick skills.

Reasons mine may be a fake:

Addidas stripes warp and thin slightly at one point which seems a little shoddy but unnoticable unless you examine the stick more clsoely.
The carbon print seems to be made of grey dots, not reflective like carbon should be.
The stick is from Pakistan and the guy who sold it said he got it from an authentic addidas retailer but of course he would say that.

It has the metalic sticker up the shaft and a cardboard sleeve with the weight etc written on but this hold little authenticity and can be reproduced.
I've put weight on the stick with the grip in my hand and head on the floor whilst holding the stick at an angle and there is give in the shaft.  I'm not sure how stiff it should be but it seems a little flexible so maybe this isn't authentic for this reason.

Hopefully it will prove a good stick and won't break and evrything will be fine, fake or not.  Fingers crossed!
