Hi everyone,

I know there has been a lot of discussion on the forum about the range of Princess sticks from Holland. As used and designed by one of the biggest names in World Hockey, Teun De Nooijer these have certainly had a lot of interest.

</

We are delighted to now be in a position to offer the full range of the new Princess Stars Range on our website.

To view the sticks feel free to visit them on our website:

Princess T-14 Hockey Sticks

Many thanks

Any self respecting hockey team would have any player who showed up with a "princess" hockey stick necking pints till he dies! You'd never get away with having this stick!  Lol Gosh! The thought of showing up to the first training session of the season with a PRINCESS hockey stick sends shudders down my spine! I'd NEVER live it out!

I thought they would be targeting at girls at least.... But that dude is a dude! Seriously, a hockey stick with princess written all over it will not sell well to a male market. You need slogans like Great Black planted over the back of the head and cool gothic letters MERCIAN, or the "this is what a hockey stick looks like" feel to the grays GX range, not "princess". At least make it prince Happy

Apparently it is Teun De Nooijer, and no I don't know how big they are. But if they are big in Holland, I would suggest to them a little rebranding before taking it to the UK market :/

I don't really see how you don't understand where I am coming from over this. You prance around with a princess hockey stick (considering it is a completely new brand) in the UK, you'll be a joke! Unless you furiously tape it Happy.

Maybe they don't consider the UK as the centre of the universe and its a branding exercise in Holland for the company.

That someone has taken on and choosen to sell the sticks in the UK is irrelevant to the first part. I agree with you in saying that "Princess" is not a great name for a stick brand world wide but I'm sure that is not in their corporate thinking

If they, as a brand, want to stay in Holland, fine.

This OP was bringing it to the UK, thus why I mentioned the UK and unless "Princess" had no other market besides Holland in mind (considering English is the international language of the world at the moment) their marketing team was way off.

I'd hedge my bets on the reason that they are stuck in Holland is their brand name. And I'm not even gonna ask why the men in Holland have taken to princess sticks so much.

Their used to be a brand called Prince Many years ago... but that has gone out with other lesser brands too...

The Princess Brand i agree would probably be better suited to the women but to be honest with you if the stick is nice and feels good when you play with it then surly thats what counts, Years ago i used to play with a stick called Model... they are still about but in those days no one knew what the hell Model sticks were... some maybe dont even know what they are now but the point is it was a great stick and when people played with them they loved it, I think too much emphesis is given on the name of the stick and not what it can do or how it feels sure some sticks are better than others but seriously... if someone sprayed a few popular sticks black like mercian, malik ect and also included the princess in it would you know the difference just by playing with them?? remember they are all sprayed black so no markings on them at all. and you get to try them out would you know which one was the princess or not, i think not... its like the coke and pepsi test in a glass, if you didnt know which one was which, would you pick your favourite drink??? (thats if you like coke or pepsi)

Its funny how people think that there is something wrong with a stick with the word princess on.
Its a brand name. It wont affect anything to do with play etc.
I just dont get the issue.

Putting that level of misogyny aside, there's the interesting aspect that Princess primarily sells products for the household - appliances, kitchen equipment, etc. which are usually targeting the female market. I can only surmise from this that Teun is a massive sex symbol and, aside from the female players like Naomi Van As also sponsored by Princess, brings in the customers very well.

Well I can safely say the name Princess has not put off  male customers, these sticks are extremely good sticks and the designs are proving very popular.

Princess are not only big in Holland, they are also widely sold in Spain and Belgium. In fact Princess are the shirt sponsors of Real Club De Polo De Barcelona  and the Spanish National Team. see here: Princess Sponsor Spain

With some of the biggest names in hockey using Princess sticks the name is not a problem.

The reason they are name Princess is because they are made by Princess who are the biggest Electrical supplier in the Netherlands and very well established all over Europe as Keely rightly mentioned.

PLayers like Naomi Van As and Teun De Nooijer are household names in Holland so anything with them assigned will sell! Its a great marketing idea from them. So far no one has even commented on the brand name simply the designs and quality of the sticks.

I think a brand name makes a difference and it is probable that the stick name Princess would not travel well outside of Holland  and of course I have never heard og the Dutch Electrical company " Princess", then again I  might see mileage in calling a stick "Comet " but not "Curry's" (although PC World would have a certain ironic appeal !)

Advertisers always have to be careful when promoting / marketing goods outside their  borders because of cultural and linguistic differences in particular where either words have differnent meanings or connotations in different countries ( Caca and Bonk are drink names I haveseen in Europe but not in the UK for obvious reasons! ) or when they are directly translated and have dire results ( see

UKSS - I like the design of the sticks but was wondering if you were doing the accessories too?

The wife really wants a juicer and I broke the coffee maker a few months back. We also need a blender....
