BTW I find it pretty funny that so far only 1 contestant didn't pick Taekema as PC specialist  Lol

It now stands at 4 different PC specilasts Taeke Taekema, Jang Jon Hyun, Hayden Shaw and Luke Doerner.

I wonder how many goals will come from field play as compared to PC's? Nerd

Any one like to guess at the percentages? Wink

well most tournaments recently dragflickers have been top scorers for their teams. Last one i can remember number for was taekema at the world cup top scored with 11 of his teams 21 goals.

Between 35 - 55 % depending on the team would be my ideas

If anyone has actual statistics to back up his numbers here, it'll be Grumpy (or Mo79, or RushMan via his other half) so I'm going with him. Plus it accords to my experience as well.

Results from the first day of women's competition:

PC 12
FG 19

Two of the six games completely didn't follow the pattern: China's 3 FGs against Spain in a game they completely dominated, and AUS's comeback victory over KOR where only one of the 9 goals was a PC. Take out even just this game and you've got 11:11 - so I expect that over the course of the tournament we'll see the numbers even out to close to 50/50.

Just shows how important practicing PCs is. How much time does everyone dedicate to PCs at practice compared to other goalscoring drills?

1-2 hours sc attack and def
1.5 hours attack and defence

Each session

You may only get one chance in a match from a s/c so you have to take it.
Percentages are the name of the game, circle conversions to shots on target to goals.
Or s/c gained and goals scored/ missed

normally higher percentage of goals from s/c's but this does depend on you flicker/ shot strikers ability

Grumpy, you have a totally different session for PCs when just the corner battery is present?

No, we have long sessions, but split for res periods
Every ploayer takes part in attack and defence so they know exactly what every ones job is and can do it.

Hard work and seeing a prima donna forward taking flicks off the line brings a smile to my face.

It happens occassionaly Yes

From the first day of men's games, the statistics are as follows:

PC 11
FG 20

The AUS v CAN game really threw out the stats on this one, being all 7 goals as FG. Then again, AUS are traditionally poor PC finishers so maybe that's indicative of what we'll see from them in the rest of the tournament. Again, I expect that things will even out as the days go on, especially when more of the matches are close.

you all seem to be putting a lot of weight on PC goals here. Everyone has gone for at least 50% of goals to be scored by PC. At the moment we are going at about 35% PC goals in the men, 50% in the women. I would be surprised if the men get above 50% to be honest.

Keely i wouldnt throw out those australian stats, you notice most of the australian goals are field goals in both men and women, its not just the one game. At the moment in both the men and women australia is the top scorer... even netherlands in second place has 60% FG in the men and 50% in the women.
