This year my team is getting socks to put over our shin guards so i need a pair that you can do that and they will still be flexable. I saw some from brine and adidas that I liked but the two that stand out are the stx blast and stx ricochet. I really like the stx ones but i do not know anything about them, I was just wondering what other people thought.

Hi,

I have never come across a pair of shinguards that are too big they prevent the wearer from pulling on a pair of hockey socks.

I have just bought and used some TK 1 2 Deluxe Shinguards and they are fantastic. Very light and comfortable, took a full blooded whack across my legs on their debut and didn't feel a thing!  Happy

Before these I wore Malik Powerguards, equally very good, but a tad heavier (but barely noticable) and I also used to keep grating my knuckles on the mesh across the front when pulling on my socks!  Rolleyes

Cheers.

I have the Grays G500 International Shinguard - love them.  They can be washed and are dry for the next day

Like JTP, I've never heard of being unable to get socks over shinpads - even if I overdo the tumbledryer.

I'd avoid shinpads where there are separate ankle pieces.  The STX blast looks like they've tried to fill in the gaps, but I wouldn't expect it to be as good as single piece pads.
And in a photo the STX Ricochets look unpleasantly hard - and very pricey.

I just picked a random US website https://www.longstreth.com/products.asp?dept=1221&topdept=1079 and from that page I'd pick out the TK Safeguards and the Gryphon Anatomic as being the best sort of design to go for.

Thank you for all the great advice. Below is a link to the shin pads I use now. They are made so you don't wear socks over them. That is why when you put socks over them, it decreses the flexibility you have.
