Bonagrass are traditionally the more successful team, it would depend on what level of player you are i.e. are you meaning for a 1st XI hockey

Ignore the Harris apologist. Nothing wrong with either of them. Bonagras will be playing European standard hockey as well as domestic competion and have a fierce rivalry with Glasgow (or whoever sponsors them)  Western.

Dundee Wanderers ladies have improved steadily up the national leagues but probably a level of performance below the above 2 at present along with a few other Scottish Teams.

In the interests of equalising hockey talent across Scotland I would encourage you to go to Wanderers. If you don't like it there you can always change. Its not as if you'd have to travel any different.

very good point geriverstik50. another thing to think about
ive been playing national 1 in scotland and am over in australia playing state 1 team in victoria.
i would hope to maybe hit 2nd team with the opportunity to move up asap...when i hit the right standard. i am still young(19) and have 4/5 at least in dundee so looking to develop within one team preferably.
i would love to go grove for the fact they do play europeans and are a higher standard but wonder whether i would be better off at wanderers.

Hi Ozzy,

I think I mentioned Wanderers before when you were talking about moving to Dundee. We don't play Grove particularly often due to the fact that they are two leagues above us but the coach of their 2's (not sure if she's still doing this) is lovely and they play in the reserve league, so if you end up not making the firsts then the 2nds play good standard. It might be slightly easier to get a game with Wanderers 1's as they tend not have the budding or former internationalists among them but they are still playing Div 1 hockey. And don't listen to Harris: the girls at Wanderers are nice or at least have been every time we've played them.

Personally, I'd find out if they do teas after their games and what they normally have and choose based on that...

so your saying eccythump...
go where the good food is?!
i like that thinking hahahaha
im thinking i might go to grove though because i presume that the 2s do at least some training with the 1s so will be training with the internationalist which is what i really want to do. as i want to pick up my standard and get used to playing really high level of hockey.
my aim is to go there. get in 2s...hopefully  Baffled
then work my way up, improving fitness and skills into the 1s
Happy

thanks for help though...i find it so hard to make decisions!

its actually a very good call.

Clubs that do decent teas usually have a good atmosphere and decent social scene behind them also.  Its so much more pleasant playing hockey with people you want to have a beer with after the match.

If your playing high level state league in Victoria then you would have no problem making the 1st XI.

Any mates I've had come over from Victoria that have played in their top state league have been out of this world!

Best thing you can do is go along to a training session with each team and then you'l have a good view of both teams and their training methods and you can see which you prefer.

best of luck with it!
