Ha, 130km doesn't even get me to LA.
Is that a good thing, or a bad thing...  Confused

It's just funny because as much as I hate LA (it's horrible and awful) it's the kind of thing where it's ...right there.  Put it this way.  I could go 130 km in any direction (uh, except west into the ocean) and I'd still be in california.  So to me, it's a very short distance.

You gotta come to Guernsey... I'll show you short.

As in distance...
Nothing else.
Obviously.

I'd love to.  Can your island be swum around?   Tongue

I feel like my new goal in life is to swim entirely around an island.  Too much watching open water 10k swimming during the olympics.

If you fancy a 50K swim, then Guernsey is an option for you

Not so much a sport; more a form of torture...

You watch: water-boarding will be a sport in London 2012.  Another gold for the US!  (Sorry, cheap shot.)

Keely, it looks like you might be in the city Thursday (hopefully not stuck in Storrs).  Greenwich still has summer rooftop going on, if your interested.  Upper west side, good hockey, turf, pretty chill, mixed, and like I said it’s rooftop, so no hitting (in case you’ve left your shinnies behind).

No lights so you should be done by 8.  Still have plenty of time to carouse!
Sadly (for me anyway), I can’t make it over this week, but if you’d like more info, let me know.

Wow, that sounds amazing!

Unfortunately Thursday (which is a day off) is already booked up. I'm going to the US Open day session (WOHOO!) and then out to dinner with my partner's work associates that night.

Just heading out to UConn now... the match against BU was fantastic, terrific game at pace and well contested by both sides to a 1-1 draw. Both BU and Holy Cross put on a great hospitality spread after our games which was much appreciated by the girls. Happy

Ah, had I seen this earlier I probably would have gone to check some of the games out. MIT is our club's home field.

The rest of the results:

  • DUHC v UConn: 1-1
  • DUHC v UPenn: 2-4
  • DUHC v Princeton: 1-3

The heat and humidity of the American summer sure took their toll on the English girls - after the UPenn game in particular we had two suffer from heatstroke, one quite seriously (she's ok now). The tour was productive in that the team was able to test out several of their 2s and 3s and see who might step up to the 1s this season, and they really benefited from being exposed to a different style of hockey that was quite a bit more physical than they're used to.

All in all, it was a great time and here's a big public thanks to DUHC for including me on the trip and looking after me so well. Happy

It's going to be good to get home tonight!
