Hi, im having a quick scout about to try and see where the best place to get the new season's kit from is. last year we were using Dita shirts (marbella?) customised with uor logos and numbers, and predictably they have gone missing, so i suspect, especially given that the clubs' finances are rocky, players will be paying for shirts this season.

So, where would be the best/cheapest place to get some good modern (ideally branded) hockey shirts made up with team logo, names numbers etc?

any reccomendations welcome Happy

In my experience, Tempest, Brabo and Canterbury have done good deals on club kit... but your best bet is to contact all the companies or local agents and get comprehensive quotes.

Kukri do some pretty nice kit too! and do stuff in pretty much every colour!
but as philthy has said, you are best to contact the companies themselves!

My alma mater had a set of kit done by Kukri Sports and is very pleased with the outcome. We were able to select from a huge variety of fabrics, designed exactly what we wanted and delivery to Canada was prompt and accurate.

(No affiliation in any way, just a happy customer.)

I will be the counter to Keely, in that I have had a bad experience with Kukri kit, especially tracksuits where the zips have fallen to bits on 6 of the 16 we ordered, poor time response and an elongated wait time for delivry of items.

To reiterate what everyone else has said, nothing beats ground work on this issue, contacting manufacturers and sports shops and seeing if they will do you a deal.  I know in the past we have got free / greatly reduced kit by agreeing to put a sports shop name on the back of the kit.

My club has recently gone through the (very long!) process of trying to find new kit suppliers.

I was amazed by the different costs we were quoted, and in the end went for a company near Bolton I believe, who quoted £25 for shirt, shorts and socks.

Some things to bear in mind:

- Material, always ask for a sample, preferably a shirt, of the material going to be used at the beginning of the discussions - some companies used very poor quality "breathable" materials which we found actually irritated the skin a bit...!
- Embroided (sp?) logos - if you want these you may need to pay a one off fee to get it set up - we found this could be quite expensive (~£50-£100), so make sure you take account of it. Printed logos etc are cheaper, but come off in the wash sometimes and just dont look the part (IMHO) :p
- Size, this tends to vary a bit by company (especially for fitted ladies kit!), so get a good look at them before you place a final order.
- Cost, including sponsorship - getting the companies name somewhere on the shirt can save a few pounds per shirt if you ask nicely (and are willing!) Happy
- Cost of reorder/minimum reorder. Someone is bound to want a shirt midseason - check you can get shirts at the same price at any time as part of your deal with them - we have a minimum order of 5 with the company we went with I think.

There seemed to be plenty of companies willing to do shirts for us, so check your local area if you want a discount for pick up (cant help not knowing where you are from!) and further afield if you are willing to travel to collect or pay for postage.
