Looks like the WC started with a good show. The stadium looks awesome and the colourfull empty seats make it more interesting  Tongue

The game was pretty good (boring in the 1st half, exciting in the last minutes) and I think a draw should have been a fair result for the Indian performance. Just that the Germans had something more to give and nipped it in the end. The only minus point was the  commentary of eurosport....  who's the guy? did he ever play? where's Ric Charlesworth?? I miss you!

Rant over :D

going to see the argies and the kiwis now!

Does anyone else think this World Cup might be a bit more open than first expected!? I honestly thought Holland Germany Australia and Spain would be a class above the rest and be certains for the final. but the opening day results have suggested otherwise. India performed a lot better than i thought and deserved something out the game, and although I have to confess to not seeing the Korea v Holland game, surely no one could have expected that result?! can someone let me know how the game went and if it was a deserved result?

Well holland did have a narrow win over england 3-2 the other week in the beautiful north west of england.  So maybe you are right it will be more open especially after the korea result aswel :D

Im almost wondering wether this holland v korea game will be a trend for all the rest of the tournament, wether the top 4 went in there with overinflated egos and wont put their best into every game (Netherlands had ronald brower starting on the bench, obviously they didnt expect to be troubled) or wether its just that the netherlands havent had enough preparation. It will be interesting if Holland dont make the semis, I think thats the result that nobody expected.

scotty i reckon that you will find once the better teams come around shaws flicks wont be as unstoppable, the argentine keepers are known for being outclassed in the top levels. So personally i would say probably not, but you never know your luck on a rainy day do u

Most importantly, did everyone notice that a Canadian was umpiring the game? (Yay, Sumesh!)

Can't help it, I'm always thinking about the umpiring.  :D

Easy now, Zippy. Be nice!  :-X

Yes, he was on that game. Just read the write-up on the WH microsite, sounds like it was a doozy. And the match sheet shows an awful lot of yellow cards in the Korean column - including one at 68 and 70 minutes, that's a bad sign. What did you hear?

really boring game!

The last cards where just for 'time wasting'..... not bad but well deserved.
