For the 3 or so season's Ive been very wearing these trainers and found they are very comfortable and have a lot of grip on both sand and water astro's.

Before i go back to uni this year I'm deciding whether to get another pair of TT's or go with something else? I would like to stick with the astro trainer rather than a hockey shoe, as I've found them two heavy and chunky in the past; plus being a student I can't afford £85 for new pair of lightweight Adidas astros.

What other astro's are like the Puma's which are lightweight but still fairy affordable?   Confused

I've been looking around the Puma website and found these: http://www1.eshop.puma.com/WelcomeAction.do?&source=go2534go&term=Puma&quid=5211123324S921998T&gkid=43-Chzn--Oenaq_CHZN-363a331a884# I presume their not the most common trainers but if anyone had some 1st hand info or knows someone with a pair would be magic.

Asics, no contest. I have team mates with DITA shoes and the sole has started to come off already (he has been using them for about 5 weeks). My asics from last season are still in perfect wearable condition. Loads of grip and really comfortable.

Dita puts their name on a lot of different shoes.  Some are poorly made, and some are very well made.  It’s basically a you-get what-you-paid-for type deal.
Asics only seem to make quality shoes, but they’re not for everyone.  Some (self included) find them too wide.  Adidas also makes an excellent shoe, but some find them too narrow.
I don't think you can go wrong with either brand, or the better made Ditas.  You just need to try them on.
You see less and less football/soccer shoes on the pitch nowadays as more hockey specific shoes are available.  They might offer great fit, but very little in protection –and not just in the toe box.

Craggsy, I cant fault Asics as I do have a pair of running trainers from them and its like running on clouds  Lol but out of personal preference I find their hockey shoes a bit to clunky.

I am looking into the new Adidas range, but as a student I need a good reason to Justify spending £85 on a new pair of Astro's if their not going to last as least 2 seasons.

Rugah: I had a some Dita's a long time ago but finding their new range alot like moon boots with their size and must admit their durability isnt as good as other brands.

Sadly I am not no-where a good sized hockey shop at home (Milton Keynes) but would love to take half a day off work to go try lots on  Tongue

Too clunky?!?!

Wow, I have never heard anyone say that about Asics before - generally the complaints are that they are too light, if anything...!

I have some older gel golds, and they are just amazing - I love them and they have so much grip and seem to weigh so little!

I think it's just personal preference between their hockey shoes and normal running trainers. So far I havent found a pair of asics running trainers which I can use playing hockey without getting my foot broken, which is why I went with Puma as they just have a little bit of protecton around the sole and tough leather around the foot (even though altogether this gives little proctection from a travelling ball)

I would like to use Asics for hockey but found their hockey shoes too uncomfortable in the past, but my I got my running trainers fitted to my fit and the way I run, plus I have Shin Splints so I need a suppotive trainer when playing.

I'm running out of time before I got back to Uni so need to make a quick decision so I can get some financial contributions from my parents  Tongue

I've had adidas hockey for the last couple of seasons, but just got a pair of kookabura lithium trainers. They were £30 which was one upside, but I tried another another 3 or 4 pairs - grays, dita and adidas - and they were the most comfortable. They are very light, feel like slippers in a way, but with good grip underneath and good support in the arch.  I used to be a snob and only stick with major brands but I thought what the heck and gave them a go, and they are excellent so far

4g - that must equate to an extra half a yard of pace?  Wink
