With most Australian and I suspect Kiwi competitions currently in the finals stages, who was lucky enough to qualify?

My team got in on the last day. We beat 4th the week before, and they lost last round, we won. That team had been 3 or 4 all season cept for the last 2 rounds. Heartbreaking stuff for them, but yay for us! so Minor Sf this week, interesting to see how we go.

We got knocked out in the second round of finals last week.  It was in golden goal extra time, they scored off of a short, pretty devastating.
I've been assigned an A grade grand final to umpire though, so the fun doesn't stop there.

My league has just wrapped up. We play 2 competitions at the same time, a local comp and an extended region comp.

4 weeks ago we had the extended comp semis. Managed to beat the team that happened to beat us the week before, and be the only team to beat us all year, so that was good. Then we had the final which we won 5-1, and I got all 5 goals :D was a good time.

Last weeked we had local comp semi/final double header. On saturday we had a   very rough game but managed to win it. Then on sunday we won the final, but I had a shocker because my Rage Gold was about to snap so I changed sticks to a Voodoo Player banana, which is a very nice stick but the price sticker that was on the hook left a residue that didnt make things easy.

So was a good year for our team. Won 2 comps, team of the year and overall points trophy.

Now I've got NHL to look forward to. 10 day tournament which starts next friday. Looking forward to it but also looking forward to the season being over!

Good luck to those playing in finals in coming weeks!

Well, we lost the semis 1-0. During the season we both bet and lost to the team that beat us. Throughout the game, we actually did score but the umpire disallowed it because he didn't see it hit our players stick even though the ball changed direction. I must give credit to their forwards, one of the best shots I've seen in person. Bet our defender, ran around a second and was barely a foot clear of their stick when an undercut got the top left corner (from goalie perspective). And their keeper. One of our players ran the entire field twice, beat entire team then got slide tackled. Goalie also stopped drag flicks, hits and other flicks. We had 75% of possession the entire game and their keeper kept it from being a slaughter.
I wasn't in goals that game.

we ended up winning our semi final 5-2 against a team that we only beat for the first time the week before, they had been slaughtering everyone (including us) all season so we were fairly happy. Grand final this saturday so it should be a good piss up.

I have just found out a club in my comp is seeking an injunction to have the local mens 4th grade Minor SF stopped. They lost points due to gradings violations, and suddenly didnt make the finals. Geez, 4th grade... some people!!!

Some years ago there was a post, in another forum, complaining that an umpire, in an 'inter-collegiate' game (so guess where?) had (by his/her 'incompetence') 'violated their human rights', and wanted to know what recourse they had Shocked

As you may imagine they got very short shrift!!

brisbane men's div 1 final on saturday was excellent, some outstanding goals and equally wonderful saves from both goalkeepers.

one of the lower grade finals was 2-2 and went down to strokes, which ended up in sudden death with a team winning 7-6.

and the minor premiers lost in the grand finals of all 7 men's grades.   Shocked

Not to mention that this is the 3rd GF win in a row for the Cobras in the Brisbane Div 1 Final plus Commercial Cobras women's Div 1 team won as well.  Another fantastic year for the mighty cobras and well deserved.

Men's final Commercial 5 - East 3
There were excellent goals scored by Australian U/21 Jacob Burns, and former Australian Country player Cale Cramer got a double for commercial For Easts, Australian U/21 rep Tim Bates netted a fantastic drag flick.

High quality game with both teams having a number of Blades players as well as 4 Australian U/21 reps.

aus thats a bit demeaning, i know people who play 3rd or 4th grade and they want to win just as much as the first graders. I know what you are trying to say, but that did come across as rather arrogant.

side note lost our final, but i got rather drunk so i was happy.

Unfortunately we didn't make the semis - came 5th with top 4 going through. We had our chances, 2nd last game was 5th(us) vs 4th had we won we would have gone through instead we lost 5-4  Frown. Frustrating as we had best against record in comp, beat 3 of the top 4 teams in the comp but also managed to loose to the bottom and 3rd bottom teams in the comp too. Season of missed opportunities  Rolleyes.

Sydney Hockey is up to grand final games this weekend at least our Prem 1st + 2nd grd teams are in the GF yaay

Whether it was 4th grade or state league, its hockey, not professional football. Amatuer sport, with little money available at the best of times. So the club in question goes to court, wins, who has to pay? The association and all its member clubs. Its rediculous that the association can see a breach, so they act, only to have to fight it out in court???

As it turns out, they went to arbitration rather then through the supreme court system, and they were allowed back in on a technicality. Thankfully, they got well and truelly beaten in the game. Lets just say the end result is this clubs image has deteriorated even further amongst the local hockey community and for what, a crack at a 4th grade title which they were 99% not likely to win unless they pulled a small miracle out of thier <leave this to imagaination>. I question if it was worth it.

On a happy note, my team won thier minor SF in golden goal with a 3-2 win. So the prelim final this weekend against one of the traditional powerhouses of newcastle hockey.... should be interesting.

ausdrexler, I understand what you meant. It was just the choice of words that wasnt the best.

And I agree, going to court over this stuff is ridiculous. we had one time a few years ago were a player who had moved to brisbane wanted to play finals back here but couldnt because she didnt have enough games up, the club got some lawyers and wanted to go to court so the association just said 'fine she can play' but the club then decided that they wanted the club to pay all the legal fees for them, so it went to court and the case got thrown out after ten minutes, i laughed so hard i cried a little when i heard the decision.
