I hate uconn the school, and by extension all their programs, due to some nastiness that has occurred in the past between uconn and BC involving lawsuits, fans attacking fans, and the like... But let's not dwell.

I'm not sure that foreign players aren't the rule anymore... you see so many Dutch and German and other nationalities represented on the top teams. When I first went to BC, they had two Canadians. Now, I think they have three Dutch, three Canadians, a German, and an Argentinian... It's nice to see the different styles that they bring.

What Syracuse has done has been incredible, but I guess the true test will be once the postseason tournaments start.

It helps the recruits to Syracuse if they like ice fishing!  Lol

true, my GK just couldn't get past the location though she loved the coaches and the program!  Not sure if she is kicking herself now or not for turning them down, but her top choices now are in a heck of a lot warmer locations!

Well I chose to move from that region because of the weather. If I had a choice I would never play there. Just too cold! So if you do go you would want to expect to get something great out of it!

Well, it's a solid school, but it IS in the middle of nowhere, and a light snow there means that the snow barely covers a one story house...

those numbers seemed high to me,  so out of curiosity (and the fact that I have loads of paperwork to do), I looked up the top ten schools' rosters to see what they had for foreign players.
Not fascinating stuff, I know but...
Maryland --1 NED, 2 UK
Wake --2 Scotland, 2 NED
Syracuse --1 NED, 1 Australia, 2 Argentina
Duke --1 CAN, 1 Singapore
JMU --1 NED
UNC --3 NED, 2 RSA, 2 Texas Happy
UConn --1 Zimbabwe, 1 CAN, 2 NED, 1 German
Penn State --None -all but 3 from PA (snobs)
Iowa --None
Michigan State --1 Zimbabwe, 3 NED, 1 Ireland (must have come for the uniform)
BC --3 NED, 2 ARG, 3 CAN (no Germans, vellnueve.  graduating from Germantown Academy in Churchville, PA does not count)
Even w/out the German, BC has more than most.  It's been an issue in the past and I wonder if coaches have to keep the numbers down or people will start to complain.  I don't really know.
I also wonder whether they really count the Canadians as foreign, like they do other countries.
Or maybe they figure it's just on the way to Alaska or something.

Yep, I was wrong on the German, I think I was thinking of another team when I said that. They also only have 1 argentinian, so seven total foreign players.

I actually don't see the numbers going anywhere but up, and it's a common practice in many sports. Division I women's ice hockey, (and men's ice hockey, for that matter) are filled with international players as well.

So right now it's Wake Forest vs Syracuse (Go Wake!) and Maryland vs the winner of Michigan State and Iowa...

Only one of those teams I've seen in person is Wake and they have looked pretty good. I think the final is an all-ACC final with Wake vs Maryland.

What's wrong with players from PA?  Wink
And Maryland plays Iowa, they beat MSU after a snow delay.

I totally have!  Go Polar bears.  Of course I'd cheer for any team who beat Middlebury.  (hate them forever)

I'm rooting for Tufts, since I'm a graduate student there, know the coaches, and one or two of the players.

Bowdoin has one girl who played with our club during the summer who is very, very good. I'm surprised she didn't play for a good D1 program.

There's quite a few very good players in D3 who could easily play D1, and a few, imo, that would be dominant players.
