Had a try with the new Robo BA today. Not in training or anything, just a general fit.

The body has a good feel, with the larger area's like Nic said. I'm not quite sure about the shoulders. It's both a good and a bad thing.
The good part is that they fit better under your shirt.
The bad part is that because they are smaller they will probably take longer to break in. And I found that the part that goes around the arm will, until it is broken in, clash with the body.

Like I said I haven't tried it in action, but from the first fitting I'm not yet sure weather it's an improvement. Because the shoulders are a lot smaller I think it's mainly a commercial thing. The large shoulders put off a lot of potential buyers, this might pull them across the line.

Well sadly I think £125 is a little off the mark seeing as the 'old style' body armour minus arms is currently retailing at £200 in the UK.  Shocked

Where did you see that? Barringtons are advertising it at £112 without arms!

Anyone know if Barringtons are carrying the new stuff yet as the website still has the old one but listed as out of stock.

I'm still using the old "armadillo" armour and have decided it's time to get up to date!

Acquired the new Robo BA yesterday and used it for the first time today.

A massive improvement over the old armour I had for years. I love how much lighter and less bulky it is. Need to get used to playing without upper arm protection now.

Does it still have the internal belly padding? If so, is it removable as per the previous model?

What Barringtons are selling as Obo Robo BA - http://www.barringtonsports.com/hockey/Product_OBO_Robo_Body_Armour_-_Chest_2008.htm
and what Hock Fac are selling as Obo Robo BA - http://www.hockeyfactoryshop.co.uk/acatalog/Hockey_Factory_Shop_Body_Armour_179.html
are different.

Anyone know why?

I think they probably just still have stock of the old style and haven't begun selling the new armour yet?

They still have the old  unpainted CK available on the site as well.

Don't think that's the old style, and it's a new pic for that page.

Looks like HFS are selling the old style BA, maybe even an old-old style. Have never seen that one before.

Also weird: two types on Robo BA's, both NEW type...

The panels of the 2 are clearly different. Only reason I can think of is that it has to do with size, but it doesn't sound logical. Anyone got a better idea?

No - weird.

Mind you, at RRP £140 and Euro 139 - bye bye to sterling!

screw that prices have become rediculas now over £200 for full obo BA your having a laugh. With the Mercian armour at £75 its half the price and a good alternative just need to add elbows, TK isn't cheap but still a cheaper alternative, Gryphon, Grays, Mazon all cheaper and most just as good!

My BA will last seasons yet before I have to replace it and when I do I doubt it'll be the obo BA.

Don't get me wrong the BA itself looks good, but at that price I could not afford to pay or am willing to pay!

Have to agree with you Andy...I am using the Mercian guard now and love it. Used a Cloud BA before that, but found the arms cumbersome anyway so didn't use them, just added elbow protectors.  So using those now with the Mercian too, and it's a great fitting combo. Had to add a bit more velcro to cinch it in better at the waist, but I would recommend it anytime over the OBO, price point indeed being part of the equation!

Agreed. My Obo is not going to last too much longer.
I've bought some Gryphon off ebay which doesn't fit right, so I think I'm going to go for the Mercian from Millet.

Anybody fancy a Gryphon Pro bodysuit, size large?

I hadn't checked the site, last time I looked it still had the blue armour on there.

That's 3 different variations on the armour on 3 different sites. The one I got from Barringtons is the armour that is on Verbunt, not their own website!
