Dear all,

I don't often wear elbow pads in matches unless I'm on sand but usually wear them in training for self-preservation.

Currently I have a pair of Jofa somethings but they're far too heavy and overprotective. Am looking for a lightweights pair that offer adequate protection for top level.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

Hi

Jofa pads are likely to be rebranded as Reebok ones nowadays.

Please refer to this topic first though, as it may have some answers and good advice for you:

So you're looking for advice but can't be bothered to read what's already been posted and dismiss it anyway as 26 pages of waffle...
Way to go on getting the FHF members on your side...

Edit: apologies - overly-harsh comment...

Indeed not the best choise of words, but he has got a point.
Maybe a good idea to make a summary of the discussion and write down all the pro's and con's of the different types.

And I think we have the perfect candidate for the job, might be a good lesson in netiquette. Lol

Apologies, Metiago - my posting wasn't meant to be as dismissive as it looks. We have had a rash of repeat questions recently from various members, and I feared this would be just another in the line.

I think the consensus was that the RBK5 are pretty much the favoured elbow pad among FHFers.

There are several of us who've moved from full body armour to just elbows (I use the RBK5), and occasionally some have gone to bare arms - myself included, though on a heavily sanded pitch that can lead to rashes and blood. After wearing full armour, the RBK5 do feel much lighter and more manouverable, but still have a bulkiness which can prevent a fully-straightened arm. That can be an annoyance if/when at full stretch, but there are techniques to get around it.

I think NicfromSweden uses something tiny (junior TKs?), and I have a hazy memory that someone on the Forum uses kiddies' plastic skater elbow pads, though I might be mistaken.

BTW - Hopefully, most of my postings have been of some use, though I'll gladly admit that there's a whole load of junk in there as well (discussions of Jaffa Cakes, weird music, piercings etc...)

Enjoy the Forum, and please keep on picking whatever collective brains we have.

Cheers.

Lightweight but fairly protective pads I would defoo recommend TK GX3.0.

I love mine and reckon you would too, they're very light, don't move when sliding and give enough confidence when facing drags/strikes  Yes

TK GX3.0 FTW  Lol Rofl

i would recommend ccm vector 2.0,alot less bulky than the 5k's but still offer pretty good protection, and dont slide down all the time like the itech ones i had previously been using, the only downside i can see with them is that the material covering the elbow cap doesn't last long on sandbased pitches, but that doesn't affect the performance.

I've said before that I'm a huge 5k fan, but I have to say that the whole CCM Vector range looks good, especially on the size of the elbow cup.

I'm only going on pictures so can't judge the protection, but still.

I've been using the Bauer Supreme classic elbow pads for about half a year now and I love them.
They hardly restrict movement and although the padding isn't really thick it helps against the biggest pain when you're hit. They stay in place really good and cover the part between my Robo body and TK1.0 Gloves exactly.

...TKGX3.0...Rofl...haha I have a pair of the old Jofa 5ks and they are very good but I find them a tad too bulky and maybe a bit uneccesary protection wise at my level.
Got to live with the fact that if someone hits it hard enough for you to not get either a glove to it, or out the way, then maybe getting a stinger to the arm might wake you up enough to start playing  Tongue

Nothing better than day dreaming during training and suddenly someone takes a shot at you from the penalty spot. I got handcuffed and I literally just watched the ball hit me on the inside of my elbow (the fleshy part where you bend). What a stinger...but it did certainly wake me up for the rest or training.

Btw I wear 5ks and oddly enough I didn't get a bruise. Must've partly hit my forearm (where there is protection).  Lol
