Yeh, the velcro works, I just find it a bit pricey in comparison with a few stitches  Yes
P.S. did the thing with the glue make sense?

You can pick up a hot glue gun for just a few pounds from places like Woolworths, worth having as can also be used to fix splits in foam  Wink

Animal means that the female buckle (the half of the plastic that is clipped into, not the other piece of plastic with the 'prongs') should be pulled as close to the pad as possible - imagine pulling the male end of the strap as far through as possible.

Then apply the glue to keep the buckle in place at all times.

Take the male end of the strap and pull hard.

This will leave most of the strap hanging from one side of the pad. The female buckle should have very little strap and be pulled tight against the side of the legguard.

Glue the female buckle in this position, so it can't come away.

Like this picture, you want the buckles when done up to stay in the positions circled red, and not slip to the positions circled yellow:

Make sense?

...This gives the straightest 'pull' at the male section of the buckle and correspondingly the best grip of buckle to strap.

Is why it helps  Wink

A simple solution, while you get around to tacking, is to tighten is normal (with the female buckle tight against the pad), then tuck the excess strap (left from tightening) behind the loop of the strap and pull down; so the excess strap is perpendicular to the main strap around your leg.

Okay.

Forgive my lamentable Paint skills, but my kit isn't handy so this will have to do!

Imagine:

Yellow = back of your leg
Red = male & female part of buckle together - done up as usual.
Grey = the strap now tight against your leg
Black = the excess strap coming out of the back of the buckle

Put your LG on, connect the buckle up and tighten the strap as usual.

You will find the spare strap (black) hanging out of the back of the buckle. When your pads loosen it is because this excess strap works through the buckle, loosening the fit around your leg.

Take the excess strap and push it down behind the tight strap (the black is pushed behind the grey), then pull the excess strap down towards the ground, so it sits at right angles to the buckle and sits close behind it - pull it really hard down and then it'll be less likely to slip.

Alternatively, tie a knot in the excess strap where it comes out of the buckle or tack as described by Animal.

Hope that is all a little clearer now.

I had this problem with an old LG - sometimes i would end up with astro burn on my knee because they used to loosen so quickly.

I'd suggest putting on the LG and tightening the straps how you want them - then undo the clips and tasking the 'male' end strongly tape, or glue, the excess male strap to the main part so that the buckle cannot move backwards.

...And if that doesn't work then invest in some OBO LG straps. I know its more cash but I had to do this with another brand of legguard that I was getting for free on sponsorship, cos not only did the straps come lose but the buckles used to burst open when my leg flexed - not cool!!!

The solution to the buckles just pulling open is to put a bead of silicon rubber between the central pin and the two arms of the male section of the buckle. the silicon acts as a spring holding the two arms out and hard against the locking section of the female.

sounds obvious, but are the kickers and pads done up tight enough?

If the kickers are too far forward on your foot then they'll tend to pop out, and if the pads aren't tight enough then they don't hold everything in.
