common misconception folks...
halloween was started in IRELAND, not America...Its just the USA likes to go a lil overboard when they celebrate Rolleyes

heh heh, so if u wanna blame anyone for having all these lil scamps run around begging in their store bought costumes then blamethe Irish  Lol

Well I blame the druids for starting it. Just cause they suggested that if you were travelling on halloween you should look like something supernatural incase you met something supernatural it wouldn't end you. I mean really how stupid did they think these supernatural beings. Lol.

But I blame america for making it into the thing it is today. Then shipping it back to us. But I suppose fancy dress stores and sweet makers have to have their christmas too.

I had an awsome halloween!!

I dressed up as on oompa loompa again! :D :D

although, when i was heading over to a flat party, a group of guys d(dressed up as many different things, santa clause, a monk, the dudes from 118 etc) came jogging past and stole my wig!!!!!!! Angry  Angry

needless to say I was raging, so I thrw my can of beer to the ground, along with rucksack filled with beer to the floor and sprinted after them... the monk seen me gaining on them, so passed the wig to santa who sprinted ahead! luckily im quite quick and caught them up, and just as i was about to swipe at him, he threw my wig into a nearby garden!

Needless to say I shouted a huge amount of abuse at them!!

my mates thought it was hilarious seeing an oompa loompa chasing santa down king street!! Dont think ill ever look at santa clause the same way again!!  Rofl  Rofl

apart from that it was a good night, went to the party, with wig intact and then hit the town, which was awsome!!  Yes   Yes

I was thinking of wearing a costume along the lines of KKK/jigsaw but then realised the danger I was possibly in  Tongue

Hahaha, although I am not really a huge fan of American cultures being adopted by the UK, we have plenty of our own we don't embrace enough IMHO, I do enjoy a bit of Hallowe'en action, when it does involve the purist little'uns.
Only 20 minutes ago, about 50% of our stash of sweets was swiped by a bunch of little tikes, for scant effort other than three words on my opening the door, but you know what, they were polite, all said thank you and all wished me a happy Hallowe'en (whatever that means) as they left, and their parents, on the driveway, thanked me too.
To lose 3 quids worth of sweets like that, isn't such a bad thing.

Incidentally, I wonder how many dentists ensure their next year's work by being overtly generous on Hallowe'en nights....?

Is Hallowe'en not an engl8sh thing adopted by americans, stemming from pagan origins.

I know Americans like to re-write history, but on the more serious level it was a festival where people believed they could communicate with their dead relatives.

The commercialism you can probably blame on America...
