im not sure if your talking about low or high dives but here is some advice for the high ones http://www.fieldhockeyforum.com/index.php/topic,877.0.html

as for the low ones

when i coached keepers in Belgium i noticed that a lot of the new keepers were afraid of getting hurt when they dived so most important would be to learn the keepers to land i am coaching to damp the dive with my hands but others dissagree but after they have learnt how to land (show them how to do it in slowmotion) then i add a stationary ball which is the target for them to dive for and afterwards i add a moving ball

The basics for teaching any "high end" technique like diving, headfirst or blockslide is to start in the end position and then work you way backwards.
So with low dives and headfirsts, start with the GK lying down, then sart a little higher so when they land the impact isn't very high. When they are used to that take it one more step back, and so on.
Like Nic said, the key to dives is teaching them to land, if they are comfertable with that then the rest comes naturally.

Don't forget diving to save can be a result of being out of position! Also, when you are diving you have committed yourself to a course of action that will give you no chance of recovery from for a rebound.

And yes the Airborn topic!

A decent Diving technique should land you in the correct position to face any shots coming from the direction you have saved the ball in, andf therefore able to make saves from rebounds.
Last ditch efforts maybe not as simple but hopefully they should never need to happen  No  Lol
