Not sure if this is ok here or if it should be in adverts...

Anyway, if there's a level 1 (minimum) qualified umpire in the Milton Keynes area at 2pm on Saturday who fancies helping me out then you'll be my best friend forever...

On a serious note - Rover Oxford Ladies 2s are playing Milton Keynes Ladies 2s on Saturday - each side is to provide a qualified umpire, and none of the umps in my club are available. So I'm struggling! If you can help, or know anyone that can then drop me a PM.

We can reimburse travel costs (within reason!!!) and we'll buy you beer and be forever grateful...!

Sorry no can do.

I presume you have already tried county/regional association, offering umpire swaps with your oppo and asking the umpires in the games before and after.

I had to give up my game last week to umpire as nobody else was qualified. Pain in the butt. Still, at least we have 8-10 people going on the next esex umpiring course in December...

Those irons are all in the fire - I'm just covering every angle!

The game after is our men's 6th team, which is annoying because none of them are qualified, otherwise it'd work nicely - at least we'll have some support!

Seems the right place to me, its not really an advert but an appeal for help  Tongue

Sorry but I only agreed to play for our mens 5ths a few hours ago, not many times i get to a sat free from umpiring.

Wish I could help out, but I'm otherwise occupied in the frozen wastelands of the north. Wink

Nope - up at Meadowfield. Wink

Besides, I've got a big game on Sunday in your neck of the woods, or has the Floridian sun baked your memory out of you? Lol

Shame keely - You'd've loved umpiring on the slime that is the Milton Keynes pitch...

Leaves everything tinged a delicate shade of greenish brown and smelling vaguely of swamp...

And they've just informed me their changing rooms are closed so there's no showers. It's going to be a joyous drive back to Oxford afterwards!

He's called Beefy

But yes, he is a swamp free zone

But he has been looking forward to a cross country run...

I don't know how recently you were at MKHC, philthy, but when I was there about a month ago the chairman assured me that Ghostbusters had eliminated the slime this year. It was certainly OK that day.....and I do recall how horrible it has been Sad

He has also apologised for the lack of showers ...that pavilion has been there a long time now and getting money from the MK Council which owns it has been very difficult.

Sorry I can't get there...I think the expenses might be a bit OTT!-

Ah good news, thanks Justin

Haven't been there since last season, it was uber-slimey then! Hopefully it'll be ok this weekend then!

They should apply for a grant from the National Hockey Foundation.

But it's HOCKEY club, Diligent(and cricket & tennis)....although MK Dons do have a huge indoor training pitch there, so maybe they should apply Rolleyes
