right i've searched the forum and all i can find on this is under the thread the sun!!!,which was of no use really to me.
for those of you that dont know what eye-black is,it's the black stuff nfl players wear on their cheeks.i want to know where i can get hold of some in the uk,or will black face paint do the same job.? i am having serious trouble at the minuite with the low winter sun obscuring my vision,i've tried tape  over the top of my grill and while it works it's gets on my nerves and i pull it off after about five minuites.
it is also supposed to be good for stopping glare from floodlights so i really would like to get my hands on some,i tried searching the net but as i dont really know what it's called i'm just going round in circles.any help will be much appreciated cheers.

I've often wondered the same thing, though tape or a headband over my helmet seems to work for me.

Done a quick search and what you're after is eye black:

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_black_that_football_players_wear_under_their_eyes_made_out_of

Link above has an explanation and some 'science'.

Link below is somewhere I found that sells it, don't know if it's a great product, site or price - but with a bit of rooting I'm sure you'll find what you want.

http://www.americansportsuk.co.uk/listproducts.asp?subtypid=7&subtypdesc=Accessories&prodtypdesc=AMERICAN%20FOOTBALL&prodtypid=1

Hope that helps, let us know how you get on if you do try some.

Cheers.

Let us know where you order from and how you get on with it. Mind, I don't think I'd be able to put any on for fear of all the stick I'd get from the team  Tongue

@ jonty ordered from the second link, postage was a bit harsh at £10.
i think most of my team are a little to scared of my boxing prowess to take it to far, although i will get a bit of stick.also ordered stewilton some as we were talking about it so that should spread some of the stick out if i wear it at training first.

I got mine from an army surplus store as "camo paint" and it has the advantage of being a 50+ sunblock! I even got black, olive and kharki for $5AU (Mind, if you get the stuff that the SAS use it would cost you $100, bigmick, Rofl)

Seeing that studies have shown it to be helpful, I might have to use it once we're back outdoors.

I've never done it, but there are girls on my team who do the "619" under their eyes for every game.  That might be a little obscure reference for non american football fans.

Everything that comes out of usc is.  But many many girls on my team grew up in 619 so it's understandable.
