Hello folks, new to forum but have been reading the umpiring section as I await the result of my exam.

Played for a number of years (ie lots) and now taking to umpiring as my daughter (18) plays for a local team who were short of umpires.

First match this Saturday low level league but will have to see how it goes.

Welcome.

All the best with your first game. I seem to remember there are some threads about starting to umpire (if you haven't found them already).

In the Grade 3 Umpire course thread Keely put together some good links to tips for an umpire's first few games.

Thanks everyone!
And the questions start how do you change a position in the profile as mine says junior player, which may have been true 25 years ago. It should say something to do with umpire but I suppose there isnt one that says Umpire requires help.

That's to do with how many posts you've made on the site, Ian, not your "real" status!  I'm no more a real "National Team Captain" than I am the Queen of England!

Have a look here for how it all works.  Your next step - after 10 posts - is Reserve Player.

Ian, you might find the FHF FAQ very helpful as well. From how Reputation Points work, how to search, how to use code to format hyperlinks and use images in your posts and all kinds of things, you'll find all kinds of answers. It's also a good place to ask "newbie" questions that maybe don't pertain to umpiring directly.

As per Keely's post, the FAQ section will help for an explanation on the Rep points. However, Rep points are given by other forum members if they think that you deserve it, but it works both ways! Simply numbers of posts is not as important as your reputation on the forum Happy
