To be honest I find they do mostly the same thing unless you want something like skins which, I think (don't quote me), Is designed for quicker recovery. I tend to use warm/heat gear as I'm in England and it gets cold! I use either an Under Armour Heatgear L/S or Canterbury L/S for outdoor hockey, and a no sleeved Nike pro and then for shorts either Canerbury compression or Adidas (some fancy name). As I said I don't find much difference between them apart from in terms of fit but that's not what you asked.
Jack

thats probably where you go wrong. the heatgear stuff is designed to keep ypu cool in warm weather conditions.

I'm using Canterbury Hot compression shirts under my GK kit. Anything that helps here is useful as the humidity is a killer.
Just ordered a long sleeve version to see how that feels

Insellafen's right. In the UnderArmor range, Heatgear is a very thin sweat-wicking material whereas the Coldgear is much thicker and designed to keep you warm while keeping your skin dry as well.

OK, my bad I did mean the type that keeps you warm I just wasn't sure which way round it was, it's very confusing!  Confused  It definitely is not thin it is pretty think but still doesn't do a lot for me. Sorry about that.
Thanks

I wear skins (long johns) after a tough game.

Seem to help recovery time. The main reason I bought them was for Motocross, but they work so well in hockey...

I own skins shorts and a pair of canterbury ionx stuff.

But i think the canterbury one works better than skins, personally.

Personally use a mixture of Skins and UnderArmour, and I wouldn't play without them. I find them especially useful to conserve body heat and keep you feeling sharp during the periods of a game when I don't touch the ball, and generally ease recovery from any session.
Upper Body:
- UnderArmour L/S ColdGear Metal Mock (for when it's cold)
- Skins S/S Compression Top (for when the weather is 'in between')
- UnderArmour S/S HeatGear Blitz Top (for when it's hot)

Lower Body:
- Skins Half Tights (usually with Skins PowerSox)
- UnderArmour HeatGear Long Shorts (if it's really hot)
- UnderArmour ColdGear Leggings (for when it's incredibly cold - usually only once of twice per year)

I use the Skins full tights for goalkeeping and they make a heap of difference.  Much easier to stay warm and limber in winter games and certainly helps with the stiff legs after the game.

with u 100% on that muppet! i find skins are great for staying "warm" during matches and even better for preventing muscle soreness the next day (especially after training!  Rofl) have not tried any other brand but have a few to consider when mine decide to call it a day...pretty great durability for the price tho, i have had them 4 years now and they are still in great nic!! worth every cent! Is their much of a difference between the standard skins and the a400 range??
Just wondering because I'm considering buying a shirt...

Skins Sports, the normal range, is just compression. Think the 400 Range is just a new gimmic for it, that's all. Look nice, but I'm a big fan of the yellow stitching, makes you stand out, and that's lacking on the new 400 range so I'll stick to the Sport range for now!
