Some sticker glue could also weaken the plastik.   Chinese made plastik masks are best left alone.

well here is what an absolute muppet like me can do with electrical tape, scissors, and five minutes spare.

I think it goes nicely with my smock/Tshirt.  I hope this works...

I recently posted about 12 funky helmets designs - some are bike helmets but still good for some inspiration...

http://www.obogoalkeeping.com/resources/2009/06/05/12-creative-funkey-helmets/

Potentially the Pac man one could be quite easy to paint if you can find a paint thats not going to damage the helmet.

I didn't really have a design in mind, just something to make me look a bit more intimidating in the goal. I'm a bit of a shorty (only 5'2) and i have real problems trying to get forwards to take me seriously in the goal coz i am a bit soft and a bit of a girly girl so no-one really takes me all that seriously.

Well guess what?

You inspired me to have a go at doing my helmet!!
The colours in the pictures haven't come out very well at all as I took the photos using my 1.3 MP camera phone (i know... i will upgrade very soon), but the areas that look a bit like black are in fact blue! It hasn't come out too well close up in that you can still see the design underneath but from 1m+ away it looks really good with the smock.

The smock is a TK Vision - G302 http://www.hockeyfactoryshop.co.uk/acatalog/Hockey_Factory_Shop_Smocks_229.html
The helmet is Slazenger International - http://www.sportplan.net/shopImages/hoc396_slazenger_international_helmet_ex_m.jpg

wow, that looks awesome!! How did you do it and what sort of paint did you use? i'd love to do mine but i've been a bit dubious. I did think about emailing Slazenger and asking them if it's possible to do it and what sort of paint i'd need but couldn't find an e-mail address or whatever to get in touch with them

If you're talking about mine (hopefully you are or I'm going to look a bit silly) then I did it all with standard electrical tape and a pair of scissors! I raided my dads stock last night and did it while watching TV this morning. I liked how that one looked that was posted before with the yellow and the white, so I copied the idea for 'trimming' each section with a thin strip of black.

I have no idea what the durability will be on this thing as it's just standard tape, but hopefully it'll last a bit into next season Happy

Good work westy. That looks awesome coupled with the smock. Might give it a go, though my smock is fairly simple with just a full black with a red and while stripe down it.
Actually I've just realised I'm gonna look like a ponce next year. Orange Kickers, Black Leggaurds, White shorts, red lhp, blue rhp black smock and blue helmet. XD

if you're having any trouble with the end of the electrical tape becoming unstuck; I've just put a spot of silicon underneath the edge of the tape and that held it down nicely.
should come off again fairly easily aswell, with a bit of a pull.
oh, and very nice job westy, certainly beats mine!

Awesome! It looks like it's been painted! I'm not sure if i'll be able to do what i want with standard electrical tape. I'm looking to get a proper design put on mine as opposed to just lines etc (no offence!). But that looks awesome with your smock etc as well. My smock's really plain, it's just a plain black OBO one
