We will be clearing out our club's storeroom this weekend, and doing an audit of our 10 or so (adult) club kits.
I'd guess quite a bit of kit will either be unsuitable any more for the level of play (given we had 8 teams promoted) or will just be up for replacement on a wear and tear basis.
There are probably other bits and bobs around that aren't wanted as well.

I know we could put stuff on e bay etc., but was wondering if there were a sports charity out there somewhere who might be interested in taking stuff off our hands and sending it off to the federation of a developing hockey nation. Obviously I wouldn't be talking about rusty helmets - they'd be straight in the bin, but if it has a little life in it, I'd rather not throw kit away.

Has anyone out there experience of this?

I would be very pleased if I can get my hands on some unneeded GK stuff because we here in Bulgaria are experiencing a lack of GK equipment in almost every age group. I know teams that use 1 kit for U12, 14, 16 and 18 age groups.

If you're keen on sorting the good stuff (like you said - nobody needs a rusty helmet but a pair of handguards size M would be very helpful). I probably would be able to arrange some transport from Bulgaria but I would need to know if this stuff would be useful. Could you tell me little bit more about the kits you're offering?

I would be interested even if you're giving pieces only... this would work too.

I guarantee that this equipment would be send to clubs that work with kids/adults and would be used the best way!

I was looking for such opportunity for long time and this could be great if I manage to something.

Best regards Wink

I think I read on here that Animal has done similar in the past. May be worth dropping him a PM.

Jonty - thanks, I will.

danni - PM sent.

rado - can't make any guarantees as yet, and be aware all the kit would be in adult sizes.

Adult sizes are cool too because I know couple of coaches who have U18 and U16 players without kits...

G64, that's a great Idea. I will probably clean out our club stock this summer too.
Can't make any promises yet, but I might have some legguards and kicker that we are not going to use any more and definitely some shorts.
Will get back to that in a couple of weeks.

Thanks Andy.

Just home now, after 3 hours spent in the cellar (kit store) and doing our best to stay out of the rain. At least it wasn't yesterday's monsoon.
5 or 6 bin bags of rubbish chucked away, a kit sorted for out new M8 team, and a spare kits put together for emergency use for each of the men's and ladies sides of the club.

And 3 bags of stuff, potentially to go to a/several good homes - various pairs of kickers, leg guards, and hand protectors, some body armour and shorts.

I'll have to leave it a couple of weeks before taking matters any further to give our goalies first dibs in case they want to swop any of their kit with the "spare stuff," but watch this space.

I thought i'd add this in here rather than starting something new.

Is there a need for kit that has been significantly worn? I have a set of TK pads and kickers, the kickers have worn down the seam of the two different types of foam. They had been replaced by TK so only a year or so old, but the tear still developed.

Pads are fine, little bit of wear that would be expected from 3 years use.

I also have the gloves. Left one fine, same as the pads. RHP has a tear at the 'knuckle' part of the pad.

I think a new buckle on one of the kickers is all that's required, and these could last another season or two.

Any information on what to do with these would be appreciated.

In short; yes.

You could be charitable and give them to a younger/lower league/developing country GK.

Or you could sell at a relatively low price on here/eBay; despite being old/worn they could be a low risk means for someone to try a different brand of gear, or a step up for a lower level GK already using battered kit at a higher level than they ought.

Plus, I'd probably take the gloves off you as a spare set, at the right price  Wink

Ok, so a bit later than a day.

But the pics of the gloves are up, if you need any more detailed pics of certain parts, then no problem.

I've had no problems with these gloves in 3 and a half years...other than the tear which I sustained about christmas time, but still used them for half a season with little problems
