I don't know about everyone else, but I hate it. I paid almost two hundred for my beautiful stick (which is not that much compared to other sticks, but still, it's my baby) and i don't really like it when some ding-bat comes out of nowhere and starts hitting it because they don't know what else to do haha

Yeah the first cut is the deepest. When we play on the Mall in D.C. I always use an old stick. Hacking is pretty common, but worse than that is the playing surface varies from 6 inch deep grass & weeds to gravel.

The lower the quality of hockey the dirtier the game. Simple fact. Especially when your younger it is a big difference. Playing in a open county league like low divison is sometimes harder going on your body than higher up. Just cos in lower leagues the poeple are worse hockey players and try and make it up by being overally physical, especially when your younger and they realise you are better than them, they just try and batter you to keep you down. Its also cos you don't get high quality umps, and they dont impose thier authority on the game as much , letting more things slide just cos of a lack of knowledge.  This is coming from self experience....

Hmm, there certainly is an element of this, however I think you'll find that as you go up the leagues people just get better at hitting people and getting away with it.

Whether its right or wrong hockey is a fairly violent game.
