But the pyramid is so, primative.

A mens team uses it, and they get thrashed.
But some of their players are guns.

Only primitive if used in a primitive way. Its extremely effective at my club as it encourages everyone to work harder in each position and harder for the team. I will add though that you need very fit center half who can tackle and break down play well.

Yeah, well my mens team only has 4 'men' the other 9 are secondary school students playing in mens division for some extra fun/practice.

So we are all unfit...

Pyramid I am assuming the arrow head is the same. have used this with a mens team, regional team and international teams with some success. Needs all the players to be clued in to their jobs and for the half backs or what ever you call them to be first to the ball or at least up the forwards ass to force them back.

my favourite formation is 3-2-3-2 very versitile and can change to any formation you want and can be half court, 65, 75 or full press. Love it makes the coach think and the players evolve their tactical game. If a player cannot do this they are going to struggle. Solution put them in nets

I would go for the 2-3-2-3

Two full backs slinging it up the field from the back. A rock in centre half.
Defensive wingers.
Two creative inside forwards.
A fox in the box.
And two wizards on the wings.

Perfection.
I find the names of positions itself encourage alot of attacking support. People really flood the defence.
Anyway I'm only 18 what do I know about positions, I just play where I'm told. I do love playing on the high wing or inside forward though.

Standard here is 4-3-3. Just seems to be the one everybody is using in Schools and lower division club hockey. Have also played 4-4-2, which works well against the 4-3-3. But there's not alot of variation in Formations here really.

Leinster teams all play the same type of hockey. Have videos of all the top teams and it is like watching the same team just some are better than others. Munster normally play 4-3-3, it can chage but they have an attacking mentality. Ulster teams have more variety in their game and play very much to set patters. Though they are really good at finding the oppositions weakest player and shitting on him

Leinster hockey lacks a real standout coach, that can come out, and really just dominate the league. With all the teams playing so similar Pembroke are always going to end up winning it. However, there's a variety of teams out there that can win it. Be it anybody from Corinthians down to as far as Three Rock. Maybe even YM if they got a little better up front. I'm waiting to see what Arul manages to do in Three Rock if I'm honest. Could Stir things up. Only coach I've played under that's tried to change the system drastically. I'm not sure it suited glens as much as it could others if I'm honest.

We've plated against a 2-4-4, with two players acting as defensive midfielders. Caused major match-up problems. A little more variety could mean a massive change in terms of who's on top.

Thats what were supposed to do...

But it rarely happens as when we finally identify them, its to late... Game over.

But with the 3-3-4, we sometimes push our sweeper into the midfield and the CM into attack, so it becomes 4-3-3.

Goes good.
