Can anyone suggest what would be best to protect me knees? The reason for asking this is I seem to spend a fair bit of playing time on the floor, whether this is because I'm targeted by rougher opposition (who are scared by my dazzling speed and skill) or because I'll always committed to getting the ball even if it's slightly out of reach resulting in falling over. And to add into this the fact that our home pitch is so sandy we mite as well play on sand paper, the result is my knees are becoming increasingly scabby.

If anyone can suggest what they use to prevent these sorts of injuries it would be good.

You can get proper knee pads from some sports shops or specialist online retailers, my partner who is a goalie has some for those moments where the ball goes over pad and below shorts and they'll do nicely to protect your knees.

I have the same problem facing off in box (indoor) lacrosse. I just picked up some neoprene sleeves. They are cheap and thin. You can even get some with a little padding which might make them last longer.

I'd have thought a tubigrip on each knee would do the job.  Very unintrusive and should stop the astro flaying the skin from you every time you drop a knee.

tubigrip would be my suggestion. kneepads will make you look like a tart IMO, and would make me, as a defender, more likely to introduce you to my shoulder.
