    Hey,

I am looking to go 'travelling' preferably in Australia and would love to play hockey whilst I am over there. I was just wandering if clubs are accommodating and welcoming for non-national league players.

I have had friends go over and play top divisions over there, and they had all sorts of friendly help with finding places and settling in etc, so basically just wandering if it was similar for lower levels, who won't be there the entire season.

I don't play a low level, currently in south prem.

    P.S

I understand I have left my planning late, and I may well have to go next year, but if that's the case, even more time to plan! :p

Also, New Zealand is an option, so anyone with experience please feel free to share

If your visiting Perth I would love to see you at YMCC hockey club though I'm not sure about if you'd be allowed to play for our club though I guess it would depend on how long you stay.

Hi Christian, I saw your post some minutes ago. I have a friend at the Nigerian National male team that I want to recommend to your team. He plays left back and left half/ midfield. He's strong, skillful and energetic. He won't mind to stay long-term

Accommodating & welcoming, for sure. Able to help out with things like finding some work or accommodation, that might be a bit tougher. Certainly worth emailing a few clubs though, you can generally find club contact details on association websites. Are you planning to go somewhere specific, and play hockey if you can while there? Or planning to come here for hockey, and will pick destination based on the hockey you can organise?

You're right about leaving it late, season starts in a few weeks in most places, and most 1st grade squads will be training solidly already.

He doesn't sound bad at all, anyone is welcome at YMCC as long as they can control their temper its a VERY friendly environment but even with that we still win a lot of finals.

I'm guessing that visas would unfortunately be a big stumbling block?

If the club can provide an immigrant responsibility letter, getting visa into Australia shouldn't be a problem.

I'm not too sure, I've only played hockey for 3 years this being my third, the whole time I've been with YMCC but I'm not too sure about immigrants to the club sorry.

How many hours do you train in a week at YMCC?

Aus as a whole is pretty good/a welcoming country as a whole. What country are you from? Depending on where you end up people will probably bug you about the playing style of the country you're from.

I don't think anyone from YMCC will bug you about your playing style and if they do its probably just banter or because they're jealous xD, training time depends on your coach and level but I think 1-3 hours is the minimum training time.
