Apparently Guyana has refurbished there whole field hockey program from top to bottom in the last year, and are looking to be a serious threat to qualify. Rumblings of internal issues from the Canadian camp make this a wide open tournament in the eyes this humble spectator. Has anyone heard anything about the Argies? Apparently they are trying to get Lombi a fake passport to make him eligible for the tournament.
15-0 over Guyana in the first game for the Canadian guys.... at least it was a good way to ease into the tourney. Looking forward to following this, especially as I have family involved. Here's hoping we beat Mexico this time!
Any country that doesn't have artificial turf to train on will always be in up hill battles everytime they play against teams that train on turf. I know that's kind of a duh!!. I think Guyana is the only participating team that does not have artificial turf. I'm happy to see Guyana was able to get the funds necessary to participate at the Pan Ams.
We (USA) beat Canada in stokes yay  http://www.fieldhockey.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=6271&Itemid=1
Guyana (as well as the rest of the Caribbean) are juniors in a playground full of adults. We are forever growing, however they are searching for funding for a turf. I'm crossing my fingers!
