I thought we should have a separate topic for this game to comment on. Can't wait for tonight and looking forward to seeing both teams in action.

I should be impartial but having followed the hockey on BBC for the last 2 weeks I have a soft spot for the GB team. Tonight's going to be an amazing marketing opportunity for British hockey. I'm pretty sure over a million people will tune in to watch the game and there's no better way to win the hearts and minds of the people than with a Gold medal. Hockey is already a winner with a fantastic Men's Olympic final with a first time winner in Argentina but what World Hockey needs at the moment is a British win. For many of us having hockey at the centre stage of a nation on a Friday evening is a dream come true.

What do you think? How are you prepare for this match?

I think the placement is brilliant and that this tournament has surprised me as some of my friends who previously had zero interest in hockey have watched lots of the games and will be watching tonight! :)

I do feel a little guilty as i have predicted Netherlands to win in our predict-a-league and my 1st place rival has GB to win and is 2 points behind me, so as much as it pains me I need Netherlands to win in full time or a draw to stay on top:oops:

Love this article by the newly-converted Colin Murray (yes that Colin Murray!). Just brilliant that a die-hard football fan has so many good things to say about our game.

Sorry I haven't been active for a while, its good to be back.

While I am so proud of the US Women for doing so well, my second home is in the Netherlands so I have to hope they win.

That being said... Great Britain is on fire, so I honestly can't predict this match! If both teams play as they have been playing, then this will be one hell of a match! The Dutch women have been working their asses off to get to where they are, and they can back that up with some amazing talent. The GB women, on the other hand have been having a stellar run in the Olympics! They have also worked very hard for their position, and as a team, can definitely challenge the best of the best. With everything laid out on the table, this could swing either way. Whoever wins, this should be one for the books, and hopefully highlight reels for years to come! I know I'll be watching no matter what! :)

I honestly think GB will win, the team have played a superb tournament thus far and have nothing to fear from the Dutch. Hopefully it is a great spectacle for our sport, and being live on BBC will bring a new audience to our sport.

I'm in the weird position of being supremely confident about GB's ability, yet pooping it about the Dutch.

Lots of nice coverage about the match on the BBC so far which is fantastic for the sport in general here in the UK - very nice little montage on BBC One and Clare Balding is enthusing about them magnificently.

And another little montage is going on right now.

    Get in Maddie Hinch.

    Quek. No card. Great decision.

    Objective. Not necessarily.

Incredible start under a lot of Dutch pressure.

YC in first 10 mins of an Olympic final...? Would have been a big call.

What a start! Goal against the run of play but brilliant move and good for the umpire to leave the advantage.
