In an attempt to stem the tide of sponsorship threads, I thought I'd try collate a large amount of information here
PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE STARTING A NEW THREAD
    1. Why are you pursuing sponsorship from a brand?
    2. What can you do to promote the brand
    3. What are your aspirations, both as a player and with your general involvement with the game
    4. What can YOU individually bring to the brand? What can YOU do to help promote the brand? Do you coach? Do you have a large social media following? Are you influential in your club/team? Are you known for being knowledgeable about sticks?

I hope this has been helpful to everyone looking for information, I'll be linking some larger blocks of information from some of our more knowledgeable members in the first few comments.
Anything specific questions you have should be replied to in this post in order to make it as informative as possible for future searchers.

In addition, these threads have some more general information and smaller writeups in there

And finally our very own @Craggsy has also provided a small snippet of general information about which brands you should seek out, and why

Im afraid no company is going to step forward and sponsor you. You are playing at what- JAC- brutually there are thousands of players at a similar level so you need to be playing at a much higher level for any sponsorship to come your way. It took until futures cup for me to get sponsored.

    1. To get free stuff.
    2. Use it until I see a better deal and get someone else's free stuff.
    3. More free stuff.
    4. I'm quite knowledgeable about sticks, as I have a huge collection of sticks, because the solution to lack of skill is new & better (& shinier!) equipment, plus I'm good at asking for free stuff.

    Reckon I'm a chance?

Animal's quote above seems spot on to me. Talk to your local hockey shop, or to other local business. If you're a 14 year old looking for a part time job, you do a bit of preparation, make a bit of effort, produce a resume, cold call places asking about potential work, hopefully have thought about potential questions you'll get and why they should pay you $5 an hour instead of the next person. Look at being sponsored as like a part-time job, because you're getting a benefit because you're doing something for the business giving you that benefit. If you go talk to local store manager saying you're interested in brand x, that here's half a page about your hockey commitments, here's a paragraph about how you talk to others about hockey, how many mates you have on snapchat/instagram/twitter, about how when you hear your teammates talk about the latest flavour of the month or great email offer they got from Edge or the online sale they found you'll be telling them about the customer service offered by the local shop, the benefits of getting to try out the stick, you're highly likely to get offered some sort of sponno/very good price on the stick you have your eye on on the spot, simply because you present as someone who understands how it works, is switched on and thinking about things, and are more likely to be a good advocate for the brand/store, and hopefully more likely to be a long term investment worth making, too.

Can you help me to get a full sponsorship deal? I received a gold member sponsorship for Mazon...but I was interested to a full sponsorship. Do you know which trademarks are offering that?

    Thank you

These are the girls C(12-14yrs)-1-team of the Dutch club "Kromhouters" from the small town of Tiel (pop. 42.000) a few years ago when they acted in the first national league for girls C-teams. They managed to acquire about 60 sponsors in and around Tiel to be able to find the top level hockey more comfortable practising. Not only family members but also shops and companies in Tiel. To bind the sponsors they organized regurarly sponsor afternoons. And of course they maintained their own website. How they did it I don't know but Young learned, old done as we say in the Netherlands. And of course it helps when fieldhockey is a major sport as it is in the NL.
