I believe it's the only pitch in Yorkshire that I haven't played at!

Definitely one club that I've never played against... Very strange

It's not the nicest pitch, very "firm". Mind you the current one is better than the previous carpet. That resembled the green stuff on a vegetable store!

You've not missed anything Freebird, it was a firmly tongue-in-cheek comment. It's probably genuinely the most horrible pitch i've had the misfortune to use, and is certainly 'firm', seemingly a concrete-based. If it ever gets a bit frosty/icy, it's an incredibly dangerous facility to use too.....

I thought it might be. I've never heard a good word about the place!

My personal favourite of late in Cheshire is the new Neston pitch. Though it can be chilly with the coastal breeze!

I've played on Belle Vue a lot, it's ok but is degrading sadly as it becomes extremely dry in patches in the summer even after watering and has bird poo/muck issues particularly on the far pitch. There was a really gross brown slime layer both pitches on Sunday which I suspect had risen up with all the rain. I hear the pitches won't be replaced at the end of their life which is very sad if true. Bearing in mind they're almost ten years old. Will be a big loss to Manchester and the NW if so.

Bowdon is only good if you play for Bowdon!! Very bouncy, though I've had some good games there to be fair, the outfielders always complain though! I can't imagine it was designed to have such a bounce!

Ashton playing fields. Not sure whether its still in use. I would hazard a guess you were playing for or against Crostyx.

Olton West Warwicks is a delight, but i love guildford's pitch also. Reading is great for stick skills but slightly bouncy.

I was playing for Brentwood and I have a feeling it was Redbridge and Ilford we were playing against. Could just as easily have been Loughts - it was a low level game!

Used to be Redbridge & Ilfords home pitch. Its still there - used for football, no longer a sand based, now a litter / mud based facility.
I coach a local primary school there - definately would not pass any pitch test - yet amazingly I've played on worse :p
I'll make you feel old by pointing out that Redbridge had left there long before I picked up a stick for the first time........13 years ago :)

Oh and best surface I've played on would either be Chiswick (not that my uni team ever did it justice) - when it was wet - the groundsman used to water it an hour before push back, meaning it was unplayabe by the second half - or southgate - love the set up and pitch surface there.
As an umpire either cannock or bowdon - Loved the atmosphere created at bowdon

Tamanawis in Surrey, British Columbia. Smooth as silk and pretty new.

strangest pitch I've played on was the indoor pitch at the Al Nasr Leisure centre in Dubai. a carpet laid on top of an ice rink. you could feel the ice crunching under your feet.

The best pitch I have played on so far is the one at Millfield. We were touring the area (Reading, High Wycombe etc) and we had a triangular tournament there with Whitgift and Millfield. Probably the best part of that day was the 1st XI match between those schools earlier that day, in which Millfield snuck a 5-3 shock win. Playing under the floodlights there was pretty cool.

    By the way I'm 14.

    Can't believe I missed this.

Thank you, a lot of sweat and tears went into getting that pitch laid and I must say I'm proud to call it home. It can get a bit breezy, but let the supporters worry about that, it's great to play on.

Strange how it all works out, because I thought the NCC pitch was rubbish. I just don't like that style of "astro." That said, compared to the green painted concrete of their previous home, it is bliss!

Loved playing at Beeston, and King Edwards High School in Birmingham (Harborne play there) was awesome both before and after the re-lay.

Anyone been to the mighty Crewe Vagrants beach? Anyone who does come down, advice...don't try to run the line in a straight line, you'll knock it out of play! :D

Sure it's not just you were having a bad day?

Most people I know love the surface.

Kilmory, are the issues at the old Mostyn House School building affecting activities at the club at all? It's pretty close to the entrance to the ground isn't it?

Hi, none at all as far as I know.

That building is more in the touristy bit around the corner which I don't think anyone would come past to get to the club.
