congrats to the England team for a very creditable 5th place in the WC. Not bad at all considering their world ranking is 11 8)
Its been a fine tournament and with a bit more guile against the Dutch and Koreans who knows what might have been, if we can elimiate the unforced errors i really feel we can make strides
Im with you there @@@, The progress we have made under the new management has been fantastic and hopefully we will see them elimenate these shortfalls in their continued progress
I saw the England games against Holland, Germany, South Africa, New Zealand and Pakistan, and I thought they played great hockey. The games against Germany and Holland showed that they are so close to stepping up to the next level and competing against the best teams in the world, however they are just not quite there yet. Defensively they were spot on and in the first few games I thought the only problems lay in finnishing off attacking moves which did improve in the last 3 games. I think if they keep inproving in the way they have done, medals won't be out their reach in the European's next year. The celebrations after their 5th place finnish also show how much it meant to them all!!!
