Which fee is required for 1 year of training & play at your club?

Let's compare and see if the sport is still elitist and posh. And if so, where.

1 year membership for a 17year old, competitive player:

    UK: Bristol Firebrands Hockey Club > £ 100 + £ 7 for each game
    NL : Laren > € 576,00
    Belgium: Orée (Brussels) > € 576,00
    Germany : Rot-Weiss Köln > € 990,00

Old Silhillians HC for a 17 year old; £185 for training and matches (if available, this will be about 32 matches in any one year and 25 weeks of training).

What would be interesting is to know the standard of the club as well. Does quality cost more?

I am sure that would be interesting to know, but how on earth do you measure the 'quality' of a club? Not sure your reference to 'standard' is the same thing....

The bigger dutch teams do usually have equal facilities as far as pitches and number of training sessions are concerned.
An interesting variable is of course the quality of the trainer/coach.
They tend to be active for the bigger clubs ( and within these, the better teams), but you might find them as wel at more modest clubs.

We have 8 mens teams from the Northern Conference to the lowest local league and play on the ex-London Olympic pitch (which is bloomin lovely). I'll leave it for you to consider what that means for the standard/ quality of the club, for which you might also consider quality of coaching, social aspect, camaraderie between members and whole lot more...

    Senior £350
    Student playing senior hockey £231
    U16 (Junior league only) £85
U16 playing Junior and Senior league £205

    Worthing HC (South East, UK):
U21 & in full time education (which all 17 year olds in England must be) - £60 (£5 a month) + £8 per game, anywhere between 22-40 odd games a season (they'll play in an U18 Sunday league from next year) so total is around £225, but a 17 year old is a very specific example...

Yeah must admit the pitch is very nice, dries out quite quickly though I found when playing on it, though Wakefield's was a very nice pitch to play on. Do you play Hallam 1's or 2's?

For us though, North East Div 2 down to 2nd lowest league locally

Senior - £180 up front or via standing order at £15 per month
Student - £120 up front or £10 per month
Juniors (U13) - £50 up front for the year
Casual players (up to around 6 games per year) - No subs but £10 per game

Lower your standards @lewijono! I play 6s to 8s depending on who's needed where.
Abbeydale can dry out quite quickly in good weather, the 90 metre bore hole allows for plenty of extra watering. Not much of a problem at this time of year though, training last night was a lot of fun. I must say I find it hard to adjust playing on school sandy astros where I pretty much stop dead when I hit the deck!
The Wakefield pitches are nice, probably the nicest I've played on after ours.

Haha my standards are so low mate don't worry most of the pitches I've played on in my career are those sandy astros :( only ever played on a water base about 4 times. Abbeydale was really nice the first day I played on it but not so much the second but that still a hell of a lot better than what I'm used to! Maybe they just didn't water it quite as much.

Aberdeen men's hockey club fees are £85 for a full social and playing member, this includes training, match travel (which is a lot with BUCS and national league) and a full playing kit. This is a lot cheaper than my old club at home but is still quite expensive compared to other sports at the uni.
