womens cup

So has anybody been watching the womens world cup? australia started off with a pretty dismal performance to only just beat RSA 1 - 0. I was actually kinda surprised at how few card were given out, only one yellow and like 3 greens i think. Thats a bit of a change as opposed to the mens comp where there was nearly always at least one green card and regularly more than one green and a yellow or two

Saw the USA argentina game all the goals from PC's but some pretty dubious routines and a pretty scrappy game on the whole, the US keeper had a great game

I've been watching some of it on Eurosport 1 and 2....going to see the real thing though a week today WOOHOO!!

Aus v SA
The Aussies played pretty poorly.I think the SAfricans did well defensively to force turnovers.They are not quite yet there in terms of their attacking play.The goal-dubious.Free hit(which led to goal) looked lifted into the D.Can't be changed now.

Holland v India
Typical dogged Indian performance.Happy to soak up repetitive dutch attacks and play on the break.Thought the dutch looked pretty awesome esp their ball speed & distribution.Lacked a bit of penetration when Naomi van As was of the field.She really caused the Indian problems.Karres also had a superb game.She's technically gifted but also an intelligent player.Conceded two goals.I think other teams will watch and know if they can play a tight defensive game,be patient,the opportunities will come.

**Keep an eye out for England.They are looking good.And yes,yes I know tournaments are not won on day 1,nor are they lost on day 1.

Our good fortune in finding torrents of the Men's WC matches does seem to be extended to the Women's WC - are no broadcasters carrying the games around the world, or is it that the intrepid jeeks (jock geeks) aren't ripping the video and posting it to torrent sites?
